Reason is Screwing up.
Okay I have been experiencing 2 problems lately. One is that I cannot solo or mute things in the sequencer. Rather when I press it just blinks once and as soon as I let go nothing happens. My Second problem is that automation is fucking up. Every time I automate a filter to bypass instead of being o...

Re: Why are Reason .RNS files so big?
It's probably due to self contained samples. All imported sound remain within .rns files, even if deleted from the sampler or audio track. Hit F8 to bring up the tool window. Under the audio tab you'll find all the self contained samples, delete the ones your project does not use/need, the unassign...

Why are Reason .RNS files so big?
So I was doing a collaboration, with my friend on the internet. He sends me .rns file that contains 4 different guitar midis with NNXT, and redrum. The file is 155kb , and easily was sent through facebook. Yet when I make a .rns file it ususally goes up to 1 gig or 2 , which requires me to use media...

Dat Drum Programming
Thanks guys for the info. Now about dat drum programming ;) I am guessing Current Value's Remix was in halftime? Because that snare seems to be slow to be regular timed. But if that's true, how did he make it seem so fast? Or is that just an illusion. I suppose some of us can try to recreate dat dru...

117 Bpm DnB? What? And Why is Dnb sometimes 85 bpm?
So I was listening to Current Value's Remix of Noisia's Soul Purge, and I wanted to know the bpm out of curiosity. I check beatport and I see it 117 bpm? Also Shellshock and Sunhammer which is wierd because those are the fastest songs on the album. If I wanted to produce in this speed do I double ti...

Need Help with *IRL* Drumming and MPC
Well let me cut to the chase, I have the uttmost difficulty trying to "multitask" with Drumming and MPCs. I can't do all hats and snares and kick at the same time like this people I see doing on the web, and like my brain can't compute all that AT ONCE. Like I can do Kicks and Snares, but ...

How can you EQ Formants on Bass Sounds
Can someone explain this to me? I know the sKrriLlrex uses it. And I am guessing Knife Party and KTN to. I have checked out videos and articles on it. Example: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar01/articles/synthsec.asp And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formant But it's so overwhelming to me. Can som...

Koan Sound Uses Maelstrom!
So in an interview Koan Sound said they use Maelstrom for their basslines. Culprate as well, can anyone give me tips on Graintable Synthesis. Or how they could achieve that reese sounding talking bassline in Reason use some of Reason's processing techniques. Any help would be appreciated. The Interv...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - September 2011
Reason.....or Ableton/Cubase In reason, use maelstorm. Set oscillators A and B to "throat". Turn the motion all the way down on both of them. Then turn the shift down on both as well (this will take it from a high wimpy voice to closer to a growl). Then make a 2 min patch trying out diffe...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - September 2011
Knife Party are on ableton. Just saying :P Lol yeah, but I am intrested in the sound design, how would you go about recreating the talking bass sound? Make a reese bass, take 2 notch filters and automate them at different speeds, ex. 1/2 and 1, add a TON of saturation and distortion, then bounce ab...

This Knife Party Bass Sound
Well Knife Party is made up a Rob Swire and onne more person I can't recall, which are obv. from Pendulum. This seems like there Complextro/Moombahton/Dubstep genre of music. Like Spor's Feed Me shit he has going on. Now on this song Porter Robinson's Unison (Knife Party Remix) has the vocal bass so...
