Re: DSF Q&A 20: Downlink
Thanks for doing this man! If you are cool about sharing this- when designing a new mid bass sound, what chains of plugins would you place after the core FM8 patch for example? I know it would depend on the sound, but it would be very cool to see what choices you make to change the sound, and the or...

Re: Frustrated with producing
Never have the mentality of getting signed, sure it's nice but the main reason you should be producing is for the fun. If you want to see your tracks getting out a bit, go upload your songs to YouTube as you make them, people do start to notice. 4 years ago I was sitting around dreaming of a label r...

Re: Ableton Live Operator
I actually did very minimal EQ sweeps, just a spike moving up through the low freqs, it sounded nearly identical before, it's all in the processing!dubesteppe wrote:im more interested in the eqing you did rather then the synthesis. did u just make sweeping motions between formants?

Re: Ableton Live Operator
I have to agree about the whole FX chain - I've never really used Operator but I have had similar success using Sytrus in FL using just a stock preset with the right FX on it. I think the reason people go to Massive is that it can produce Yois and stuff straight out the plugin, with decent effects....

Re: Ableton Live Operator
Yeah, that's why I love operator :) It's so easy to get out a sound. The FIRST patch I made in operator is one of my favorite sounds. My technique was to put it in an instrument rack, have a Macro controlling operator volumes (more than one at the same time) and then automate that macro control. In...

Ableton Live Operator
I've been using it for the first time today, and I played around with it, along with some different distortions, and got some cool growl sounds. I made a little sample to show you, skrillexy I know but hey, I've always been interested in his synthesis. This is just to show people that you can get aw...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Burgeamon: Liking the drumstep twist, though I think the snare and the synths are a little weak, try beefing them up with EQ, Compressors, and plugins like Sausage Fattener. societyloser1: Very minimal, not really my area, but I can appreciate it being well made. The sub is really nice. Good job! na...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@ Noisestorm - Awesome production, sounds nice and clean, don't really have anything negative to say feedback wise except it's not really my style. When's your EP due out? Are you signed or releasing it yourself? It should be out in the next month or so. I think I will go with a Beatport release wit...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
eldoogle: Sounding good, the vocal is nice, and I like the pad notes, although it isn't Dubstep, the production is pretty solid all around, nice job. DJ Sampletank: Sounding nice man, the snare sounds nice and clunky, a bit muffled, but it actually works in this track. I'd work on getting those bass...

Re: Ableton Live.
Wow, this topic came in just in time =). I am at the point where I want to switch to Ableton too. The only thing that worries me, is that I have to start all over again. I have been a FL studio 8 user for quite a while now, and I know this DAW very well. I just hope that I'm not taking an unneccesa...

Ableton Live.
Just a little something I wanted to share. Four years ago, I started using Reason 3, to make music, completely unaware of the complex process that was involved in crafting beats. I set out with no genre, and enjoyed making sounds in Reason. When I started seriously producing Dubstep and DnB, I start...

Thank you all for the awesome feedback! That track will be released on Beatport in January, the feedback helped me finish it!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Congojack: Nice one I'm a big fan of that lead synth! Try to clean up some of your basses with eq, but overall sounding sick! jimbeaux: That kick is huge! I think you could try to tighten up the snare and those wobbles, and make them even better, but it is sounding great so far! Turnipish Thoughts: ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
elyhess: Nice bass, digging those basses! Try processing them a little more, get them fitting with the beat a little better, and you will have yourself a tune! pixelscum: This is sweet! I really like the swooshes before the snares, really add to the feel. Nice percussion, and great bass. Nothing to ...

Skrillex Question
No, this is not to do with how he makes sounds, I just remember seeing a post here a while back which had a link to Skrillex's Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, but before it was called that, when it was a WIP/unreleased. I want to have a listen to that track again, but the name escapes me. It was de...

Re: Mastering- The Magic Secret???
Ahhh man I literally find it so fucking hard to get a decent mix at a high db without fkn clipping (and not using a limiter), I just find that my drums especially always lack punch and presence without being a lot louder than the other elements in my mix, its not that I don't EQ the fuck out of eve...

Re: FM8 Skrillex Growl (TUTORIAL)
It should be back up again! Sorry, didn't realize it was down. I think I might make a further video, with a processing tutorial, distortion, compression etc? How does that sound?
