Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?

Getting high all day and working on a song for 6+ hours. Wake up the next morning to finish it and "The fuck is this shit??!" ugh story of my life lmfao drugs are bad, mmmkay? one of the most important things ive learned about producing is: dont get high before you produce if you wanna ge...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@GV1 Digging the atmospheric vibe. after the synth goes away and the atmospheric shlumpiness comes back in, you should put a section that deviates from the original melody imo. raelly good concept tho @MaZa1 the levels arent bad. a little repetitive but its pretty chill. @mthrfnk it has this indie f...

Re: How to make ableton sound good

Where can I get a spectral analyzer? I will admit that i am ignorant of its function

And you can hear the difference in the thickness of the drums and bass and really just everything.

Re: How to make ableton sound good

No, that was a little unclear i suppose. i used identical mixer levels and mastering effects. the samples were from a couple sample packs that i used a lot in fl studio. here are the tracks. you can tell the difference in the first couple of seconds. ableton track: http://soundcloud.com/audio-soma/p...

Re: How to make ableton sound good

Maybe, but I did the same exact thing in ableton that i did in fl studio and it sounds weaker. im not hating on ableton, its a really useful program and im glad that i switched over. i just want to know what techniques ableton users use to make their tracks sound fatter.

How to make ableton sound good

I just switched from fl studio to ableton a couple days ago. made a track overnight, ableton is extremely efficient and the tools are cool and all that jazz. but my track sounds weak! in FL studio, the only thing i ever did to my tracks was good gain structuring and an elephant on the master track. ...

Re: Ringing on sub bass in ableton

Never mind, I just figured it out! I have a Saffire 6 audio card and the sound output was set to Wave instead of DX, in case anybody else is having a similar problem.

Ringing on sub bass in ableton

I made a sub bass in massive in ableton. It is a pure sine wave with no resonance on it and that is it. It has this really high pitch ringing over it, kind of like what soundcloud does when your sub bass is overloading the track. However, there is nothing overloading. My master track is down low and...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@jimbeaux really cool track, I like your uses of atmospheres, i dont hear that enough in dubstep. The lead at 1:37 is really cool but I think its a little hard on the ears, maybe too loud or something? @mr ooze awesome take on house, it sounds slower and much grimier. i like the growling synth a lot...

Re: Girlfriends

I've lived with my girlfriend for over a year now and it is SO hard to get anything done. It seems like she only wants to cuddle when I'm trying to make beats (although that is most definitely an exaggeration). I'm going to be converting my bedroom from storage to a studio in the next few days so I'...

Re: What synths do you use for pads?

Thanks for the ideas guys, I 'm going to have a lot of fun when I get home tonight. Keep em coming too! I'm sure that I'm not the only person who has trouble with pads

@CE9958 Sure, upload it. I'm curious to see how you use your synthesizers.

What synths do you use for pads?

Right now, I've been spending a lot of time learning every facet of Massive because it is so freakin versatile. However, one thing that I am having a lot of trouble with on Massive is making pads. All of my pads are either too experimental to fit anywhere in my tunes or they all sound under-produced...

Re: Girlfriends

I got into producing recently because of my guy and we just split up last Friday. I actually loved the fact that he was into his music and massively supported him. I wouldn't have wanted him to give up at all as I'm a musician myself. He said that production and a relationship wouldn't have worked ...

Sending Instruments to different Frequencies?

Ok so I see a lot of talk about sending channels to different frequencies so they dont overlap when you layer them. I use FL Studio and Ive been doing gain structuring and a little bit of mixing and mastering but I haven't played with any EQing and I have little idea of what it means to send channel...

this. you can fold down the seats and sleep in it or carry gear, and it can get to renegade spots a lot easier.
