How do you guys make your womps?
I'm just curious, because as I have ideas of patterns I want in my head, and as I try to apply them, I can't help but think there has to be a better way to do it. Okay, once upon a time, I used FL Studio for this, and for whatever reason, FL could do something that ableton cannot. One of the ways I ...

How to tell what note your kick is hitting?
Are there any specialized programs that will tell you what note your kick is hitting? It's a very low frequency, and a very short amount of time so I would imagine it would be difficult to find out. How do you guys go about matching kicks to the key of your song?

Re: HDD system drives - SATA vs SSD
I have an SSD on my build I just made a month ago, and everything loads up FAST! Like you I have all my samples on a seperate drive, even my song files. But All my programs, and VST's are installed on the SSD and songs load up much faster than twice as fast for me compared to a HDD.

Re: Whats soo bad about _______ (Behringer, M-Audio, Etc.)
I actually haven't had any negative stories about m-audio, I own 2 keyboards from them, and 3 interfaces, and all work great (Although the keyboards lacked 64 bit support until very recently). However, maudio products are nowhere close to "professional" sounding which is understandably why...

Re: Anyone willing to share your ableton templates, drums?
I'm not sure the best way you'd find it, but I know helicopter showdown often times releases things like this for their community. It's unlikely they'd be able to give samples because they're probably copyrighted, but I know they give out massive presets, and I know I've seen an ableton template of ...

Re: fl studio/sylenth1 problem
My guess is that at the top left of sylenth it has a "polyphony" number. If that number is 3, and you play 4 notes, then only 3 will play, and it wioll be somewhat random which 3. Try raising that number up.

Re: Hi hat rolls
I have to think you can find some hi hat loops out there somewhere. BUT what I'd suggest doing is just listen really carefully to some stuff you like, stuff you kind of tend to model your own work after, and see what those guys are doing with their hats - where do they bunch them up, how do they or...

Hey, are they really big? I'm curious because I know one of the guys from it, and didn't think they were very well known.

lol, so I guess nothing like that is available. I'm surprised there isn't more of a market for something like that. I guess I'll try messing around with what you guys are saying.

Hi hat rolls
Something I've always had trouble with were hi hat rolls, and fast attacking rythmic hi hats. I feel like I can get the rythyms of the kick, snare, clap etc. done by myself, but the intricacies of hi hat rolls are currently beyond my skill set. Are there any tutorials or loops sets out there specifi...

Drum rolls
I've been noticing a lot recently songs that have drum rolls in them, sometimes they do it as a transition between parts, and sometimes they just do it as a transition between bars. Skrillex does it, as well as several pop artists. Does anybody have any idea how they do it? Like, is it simply a kick...

on the whole 10,000 hours thing. I think it's a load of bullshit. maybe you can can invest a lot of time into something if you want to be the beethoven or the beatles of your chosen subject, but not everybody can be brilliant. and sometimes in life we have to accept that... although I do agree with...

Re: Life Vs. Music
OP, you are absolutely correct. There is an amazing book, that while not required, I recomend you read, or at least look into called "Outliers". This book is the story of success, and goes through many successful people throughout the world, from the beatles, beethoven, sports players, and...

Re: 5 things you need to know about Mastering...
This is my opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt. I think this is much more of a tool used by the mastering industry to get you to give them your money. What I believe to be more important over all, is that you know what the fuck you're doing. If you don't, you will ruin the song, but if y...

Re: Making a slow song sound fast?
I'm not just talking about tempo, although I was thinking about using it as an option. I use ableton live, and have failed at every attempt to stretch the tempo. I am happy to try other options, like using different rythyms to make it feel faster even when it's not. Can you guys recomend me some tra...

Making a slow song sound fast?
I'm working on a remix, and it's at 78 BPM. The song is slow, and for my remix I'd like to make it fast paced. The problem is that doubling the speed makes it far too fast. There's the option of changing the tempo of the original to 70 BPM, and then doubling that, but i've never had much luck at tim...

I've been trying to get this to sound good as well, however I do not own reason. Are there any other suggestions you guys have for tools in order to acheive these techniques? Anything in Ableton or FL Studio?

If you don't picture yourself winning this, then why do you still think 3x0sc is capable of making every sound any other synth can make? I'm really just trying to prove a point
