Re: Buying a pair of KRK
I love my KRKs, i have the 8's. People knock them a lot, but everyone who actually has them likes them. I dont think they color that much, and OP you said you want low end power, thats what KRKs are known for. They might not be the flattest monitors, but I really like mine, especially with the low ...

Re: Headphones Recommendation
You need to try Focal Spirit Pro's. Imagine a more refined version of the ATH-M50 without the wierd dips in the frequency response, but with lower, even leveled sub bass. £220 a pair. Above that, its got to be the Audezes, but you're gonna need to quadruple the cost of the Spirits for the entry leve...

Re: Need new external sound card
Sorry lads, but the saffire 6 is one of the worst external cards you can have! Its completely outdated. It was one of the first multichannel interfaces, but Its only usb 1.1, so latency times are awful for modern production. The conversion quality has come a long way since they brought them out too....

Re: Need a new soundcard - recommendations?
On a sub £200 budget you have two main options. The NI KA6 has great low latency performance (and the phantom power problem was solved about a year ago), but the Focusrite Scarletts have better quality converters and preamps. If you are someone (like me) who maxes the CPU on every track you do, then...

I think you can easily narrow that list to Equator, Adam, Presonus and maybe Yamaha. I mixed on Rokits for about three years and moving on to Equator D5s was like...fucking life affirming... ;p Couldnt agree more! i've tried all of the above (as i run a shop) The Presonus Eris is my fav if your bud...

Re: INTERFACE = SOUNDCARD???
Most interfaces are balanced outputs on stereo jacks, so if you had a stereo jack to xlr cable (or stereo jack to stereo jack) it would be exactly the same signal as xlr to xlr. The main reason to use balanced cable is to cancel out any noise that might occur on long cable runs. The alesis units are...

Re: Patchbay?
Morning Ben A monitor controller is probably what you need, or an input switcher. A patchbay would work, but you should really turn the monitors off before unplugging the patch cables. I wouldnt really advise this method tbh even a cheap input switcher is more preferable than the cale swapping of a ...

Never did i think a stand could make so much difference, these are just genius... even on top of other stands!
Sympatheically moving with the speaker makes these even better than mounting on solid concrete blocks

Re: Monitors for Neurofunk?
Through my own testing and comparison methods, in a moderately treated room, with each set calibrated within 0.5 db of each other using pink noise, the KRK Rockit g2 series as a whole have a characteristic slightly scooped mid sound, very similar to the mackie hr824 mk2, m-audio BX8 and Event 2020 B...

Re: What headphones for around 120 euro for production?
These look interesting. Dat gently sloping line. They look like they sound like my Senns. Got a nice step response as well. I think a lot of people aren't aware that frequency graphs are missing part of the picture. Waterfall graphs and step/impulse response graphs will tell you much more. Have you...

Re: What headphones for around 120 euro for production?
If you can stretch just a little bit further, the Focal Spirit One's are amazing, pisses all over the akg's from a great height. The Spirit Pro's (same driver as the ones, but with a few tweaks) are my favourite headphones under £800, but they are about £220. Check the bass response compared to the ...

Re: Monitors for Neurofunk?
this subpac thing seems like it's the furthest from any decent monitoring equipment. wrong but it's easy to make that assumption, it looks like something gimmicky better suited for a video game. but it slams, and it's so accurate..if you had one velcro'd to the back of your computer chair for a wee...

Re: Pulling the trigger on some studio monitors. Help!
I'd go for Adam F7's all day long on a modest budget, especially for a bedroom setup. The only real difference to A7X is that they wont go as loud, the actual sonic difference between the two models is pretty minimal. There are plenty of electronic prodcers who use them and the bass response is good...

Re: Interface Focusrite Pro 40 Vs Forte. Or other..?
The forte has better converters and mic pres, it does sound great. The Saffire has lower latency and more i/o options. You'll be able to run more plugins and instruments with the saffire as the drivers are excellent, but if you dont need the ins and outs, the smaller models are exactly the same qual...

Yep, foam is useless below 150hz, only dense fibre traps with an airgap behind can cope with sub.
