Whew, I finally finished this one. I used a Virus TI as the main workhorse, except for the supersaw which I made by layering my Roland JP8000 with Sylenth.

Re: Why is an Analogue-type eq vst considered better than a
the closest many of us will ever be able to get to high dollar hardware EQ's, compressors, ssl consoles, etc, is to give Acustica Nebula a try. the results really depend on which library you're using, it's very hit and miss. basically it's software that emulates the hardware.... in a much different ...

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread
nowaysj, you got it, i just dropped it off at the post office. i shipped it overnight but you probably won't get it until saturday since tomorrow's a holiday. i'm a big fan of y2k-era trance so the jp was the first synth i had to get my grubby hands on. as much as i respect sylenth and adam szabo's ...

Re: I'd really like some feedback.
i don't really have anything to add that hasn't already been said. i'm just confirming that the mixdown does some to need some work. i have the same problems, the mixdown is tough as hell when you have alot of elements in the song. remove some frequencies of one sound to make room for another, then ...

atmospheric+liquid dnb (feedback plz)
i know this is a dubstep forum but usually most dubstep heads like dnb too. plus bpm and drums aside, there are alot of similarties between dubstep and dnb's subgenres, so i'd love ur guys' opinion. i tried to make a song that was balanced somewhere between atmospheric and liquid, ambience where it'...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@djdizzy I really like that bassline. song is well on its way to being something nice. But isnt this the dubstep forums not dnb. thanks for the feedback! yeah i know it's a dubstep forum and not "dubstep-plus-dnb-forum.com", i don't post often and usually just read. i'm familiar with a lo...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@lukeraith: i really dig the melody at the beginning and the sound you used. what is that, a reversed pad of some sort? sounds really nice, i'm assuming it has a hpf making it very soft and the modulation adds to it nicely. when the bass comes in, it adds a nice dancey/harder feel but fits well beca...

Re: DJ Dizzy - Smells Like Safrole (trancey dnb)
i re-did the drums since it seemed they came across a little weak before. not much else changed aside from a little the phases are sequenced a little differently, i think it definitely sounds much better now. in comparison it definitely makes the drums in the original seem weak. i'm not really going...

Re: DJ Dizzy - Smells Like Safrole (trancey dnb)
gotcha, i got rid off too much thump. i actually did that on purpose because the constant sustained sub bass drowned out the higher frequency "rolly"/gritty bass even though i had EQ'ed them to their respective bands. i went ahead and tried 2 different ideas for the sub layer, neither one ...

Re: Zeenith-Test (Dubstep) (Last clip update)
i liked it. i thought the intro was great too, too long and it gets too redundant, too short it doesn't build the anticipation, i thought your intro was the perfect length.

Re: DJ Dizzy - Smells Like Safrole (trancey dnb)
thanks for the replies. regarding the bass needing more presence - are you guys referring to sub bass or the "rolly" bass that i mentioned in the original post?

EDIT: HERE IS THE UPDATED VERSION http://soundcloud.com/djdizzy216/dj-dizzy-smells-like-safrole-1 ================================================= BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL i just wrapped up another song, it's my usual style of trancey drum n bass. the lead melody is a supersaw from my roland jp8000 an...

Re: DJ Dizzy - Tonight (D&B and Uplifting Trance, female voc
I have to disagree I very much like the song (although I love dnb, trance and anything cheesy tbh!) Mixdown wise it really does sound good man well done. Crit I would have is maybe a bit too much ambience, the sounds could use a lil less, sound closer and still sound real nice and lush. Big up! yea...

DJ Dizzy - Tonight (D&B and Uplifting Trance, female vocals)
My usual style of Drum & Bass with melodies inspired by uplifting trance. The usual recipe of fast breakbeats, supersaws and female vocals... hope you guys like it

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
mthrfnk - man i absolutely love how you worked your synths and i love the synth bass too. the song felt like it was building up and i was waiting for some type of climax. although i think that's because you mentioned the knife party inspiration and you did a great job there, i could hear the knife p...

Re: 175 bpm track
for some reason the kick/snare don't seem to fit the track very well. i'm not sure what it is, try removing the compression and EQ'ing from the kick n snare so we have a baseline to reference, a sort of before and after. that way we can see whether it's the kick/snare one-shots that you picked that ...

Re: First full dubstep track ever!
Awesome! Very nice synthwork. There's something about the drums I don't like though... Maybe it's just me. i agree, i can't put my finger on it. where the one-shots that you used for the kick/snare resampled from another song? they're nice samples and they would really fit the song nicely but they ...

Re: New Track Release Needing some feedback
nice work! i agree with the post above that some of the synths seem a little too far in the background, it almost sounds like they take a backseat to the bass but that's unnecessary because they don't share the same range of frequencies. i think that adding some compression to the sweeping pads and ...
