Re: Xanja - Untitled (Garage / Dub Techno / Dubstep)
Really digging the smooth quality. Beat is more energetic than I'm used to hearing on old school dubstep, but it works. As for titles, I use random song title generators I find off google more oft than not these days. You might get some good ideas from one.

Re: Zillion - All i Need (Deep/Ambient)
Would agree that the hats sound a little loud at the beginning. I really dig the old school dubstep vibe meshing with the vocals. Kinda brings to mind a sad scene in a movie where a guy has just been dumped and is wandering around the streets in the rain.

Re: Thricton - TOP [Dubstep] {FEEDBACK}
I like the big atmosphere at the front, might want to build into it a bit more. Might want to stretch that out and add something in before the drop. I like the bass, it's got a nice groove to it.

Re: Derocc - "Pineapple Chunks"(GlitchHop/Grime/Experimental
I like it. Has a lot of energy. The song I think it likely sounds the most like would be Skrillex First of the Year. You may want to do a different upper synth line and sound to distance it from that song. Or not, just my two cents cause that song popped into my head as soon as your drop hit.

Acidhedz - Horror Dubstep
Old public domain haunted house movie with the sound replaced with original songs, and silly subtitles added. If you dig MST3K you will probably dig this. There is cussing, off beat humor, some surreal humor, and general silliness. I would advise against drinking anything while watching.

Re: can never get my bass sounding right
I'm an Occam's Razor kinda guy, so the first thing I would try is turning your mids and highs down, and the sub up gradually. Loop the bass and listen to it while you adjust your levels and you should eventually hit a sweet spot.

Re: can never get my bass sounding right
Don't know what to tell you. In Acid all I have to do is hit the + or - keys on the numpad to pitch things down. When I'm doing a synth based bass I usually just use a pure sine wave or the free vsti itchy has for big bass layered under whatever else I am doing. I'm not great at melody, so I usually ...

Re: can never get my bass sounding right
I think I start my low bass on C3 usually. Using a pure sine wave and looking at an analyzer I try to get the peak around 40-80, then go from there.
Find an EQ board that has more controls, the one I use has 31 bands. On my bass I push everything 80 and under till it makes my woofer hum a bit. I ...

Can't argue with that. I probably got by with it because I know Acid, so I could tell what he was doing even when I couldn't really see it well.
Thanks for mentioning those other classes, I found a youtube channel with those, plus a bunch of others. I will have to watch them later.

I love making music. That's why I try so hard with it. I am manic depressive and have a lot of social hang-ups, plus I hate working for people. So other than some possibilities with other website ventures, this is all I have going for me. Wichita's economy is heavily dependent on the airline ...

Re: How many hours do you average on a track?
When I first got into trying out dubstep I read the wiki on the style first, then made around 10 tracks, a rough album, based around the description without listening to anything anyone else had done.
Here is one of those tracks: http://soundcloud.com/acidhedz/acidhedz-dubsteppen-alien

Re: Free 100s-1000s+ Soundcloud Plays, Followers & Comments
I've been working on my overall plan for over a year. It only seems short sighted because I'm trying to pull the trigger on the whole thing now. The album is good enough to get the attention I need to start moving my career in a more professional direction. I don't need a run away hit, I just need ...

Re: How many hours do you average on a track?
I can dig it. I tend to keep banging away at a track till I get annoyed by it. I did that with this album I'm working on. Thought I had the 16 songs to make a proper album ready cept for nips and tucks, then within the last 2-3 weeks I've cut about 4 or 5 out and replaced them with newer stuff just ...

2-3 hours
if it sounds good, i keep it
if not, i delete it
Really? I never delete anything. Just because I don't like a song I made much doesn't mean other people wont, plus you never know when inspiration might hit and give you an idea for something that wasn't working before.

I would agree that getting bigger numbers is mostly pointless, except for helping a track to appear more popular. Which can be useful if used at the right time. However, quality is not what determines success, and selling albums or singles is not the only way to make money.

Re: can never get my bass sounding right
I think everyone else has said it well, but I will add my own little story about fooling around with bass.
I started off trying to mimic songs like Louder, and Skrillex stuff because that was what I heard first when I started looking into dubstep. Save your comments, I think Dara O'briain says it ...
