Re: Tune IDs (Whats the name of that tune that....)

Feel like a dunce mob for asking but can someone ID the track with a female vocal sample "don't you know" repeating...feel like I've heard it tonnes but it's been in my head all day and can't place it. Kinda a funkyish blawan ish vibe to it. Much appreciated chaps :6:

inevitably gonna get flamed for posting this in here rather than the events section, is anyone reaching to this? tried to find out more information about it but it seems quite a low-key affair, seems to be a lot of warehouse-y bits on the rise in london lately :h: https://twitter.com/#!/____LDN can ...

imo fabric will almost definitely id you mate, i've been asked every time i've been...you'll have more luck in a 'grimier' venue i reckon also lulz to the croydon comments, lived there my whole life, it's like a bubble to me; people from outside think it's the most dire place on the planet but peopl...

Re: Going to London in a week - Need some advice

you might be ok to get into a place if you have a ticket already - much more likely to get in to a music-orientated club than a pulling-orientated club, if you get me?

croydon is not worth a visit. all the best record shops are right on your doorstep in soho

I'd do terrible things for a nicely priced NSWL007. Might have to just bight the bullet and fork out 30 quid for it though got one on the way for £19.70 inc. delivery....cheapest i had seen in a while so thought fuck it, riddim's a monster :6: picked one up in sounds of the universe about 6 weeks a...

Re: Am I cut out for College/University?!

ask your department for a marking criteria; most have them and it explains what you need to do to get each specific grade. don't compare yourself to your friends doing non-arts subjects; doing an objective subject with a 'right answer' means you'll almost always get higher overall grades than someth...

Re: Great Writers

Any reason why "Finnegan's Wake" is the ultimate hipster book? Because it's notoriously difficult so saying you've finished it makes you cool in their eyes. And because it's so difficult to ascertain any concrete plot you could probably just lie and claim you have finished it either way. ...

The protagonist is a professor of Hitler studies in middle America who is on his third wife. All you need to know. ;-)...

james kelman, alasdair gray, carson mccullers Some good advice, here. I've just read The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by McCullers and it's amazing. Alasdair Gray is strongly recommended to anyone who likes Vonnegut - kind of similar in tone if a bit heavier. James Kelman just makes most over writing f...

Some of my favourites are Huxley, Orwell, Dostoyevsky and Joseph Heller. Surprised nobody has said Jack Kerouac yet, "On the Road" is a book I think everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. read on the road twice and was underwhelmed both times... 'the subterraneans' i enjoye...

Re: Great Writers

some great suggestions in here, tastemakers :h: would highly recommend anything by kafka, faulkner, james kelman, alasdair gray, carson mccullers, julian maclaren-ross, kazuo ishiguro but the best book i've read lately would be 'devil all the time' by donald ray pollock, kind of on a brett e-e tilt ...

Re: Best club in London?

corsica is good, friendly people to help you put on a night, but it's expensive to hire and you'll do well to break even at the start - would recommend starting out at a smaller club to build a following first. props though, keep us posted :Q:
