A sample is a one-shot, like one snare hit, or someone saying "Aw yeah!" that you can use anywhere in your track. A loop is just that: a loop, usually 4-8 bars but could be more or less, that gets repeated. It could be a drum pattern or a bassline or anything. Your track sounds pretty good...

I wrote a tune in 6/8 at 160bpm once. That time signature/tempo gives you the same kind of halftime feel that 4/4 140bpm does. play around with it a bit, have fun :)
