Re: Infuriating Send/Bus/Aux question
You could try sidechaining the dry track to the return/aux that it's sent to - it won't be perfect but sans automation it's the only thing I can think of, make sure you make the send pre-fader if you do this.

Re: Something very rude some soundcloud users do.
I'll only ever follow someone on Soundcloud if they post comments that let me know that they're actually listening to, and enjoying, my music. You can tell the difference between the spammers and the genuine kids by whether or not their comments have a direct reference to a characteristic of your tr...

Re: I want to write a film score in a DAW
Do you have the essential instruments collection in Ableton? Those are surprisingly lush and realistic sounding, I used the cello in a prog house tune recently and with the reverb on it it sounds surprisingly good.

Re: Keep sub at same volume
this is probably a given but make sure you don't have any chorus/detune or any such phasing effects that are affecting the volume of your sub. Those'll inherently create inconsistencies in amplitude

Jesus I had no idea they even updated to 8.2.7 let alone 8.2.8. I've got .5 and .6 sitting in my dock still, with .6 getting the most regular use

Re: Buying new monitors
5s are definitely lacking in low end. Pretty accurate and honest monitors (except for the high mids - it tends to hype a lot of that) but I never know what my bass end of things is doing. I'll play out tunes I've mixed on just the 5s and sometimes the bass will be far too low, sometimes I have to tu...

Re: Help With Ableton Workflow
one thing that really helped me is to create a template that ableton will load. when i start ableton i have all my instruments laid out, midi notes preprogrammed, channels grouped, return tracks set up, EQs on every channel, etc etc pretty much everything i would normally have to do on a track is a...

Re: gain structure and mixing aka THE MONEYSHOT THREAD
^^ Spot on explanation. I often use a little "pseudomaster" chain on my master, and have it bypassed while mixing, just so I can toggle it and see if my mix will hold up to being slammed, or mildly boosted, as it would be (more professionally) at the mastering stage. Good to have both fram...

Re: Production rant of my first track and it being 7 months.
7 months? No offense man but that's small time. You wouldn't expect to be playing moonlight sonata after playing piano for 7 months - its a slow curve, you're learning all the time, and each new thing you create or work on will be building your skill set more and more. Many artists go through huge d...

Re: help finding good glitchhop forums?
Glitch Hop Forum (the one in the first reply) has probably 50-75% of the more well-known and reputable glitch hop producers posting there on a semi-regular basis. I can't recommend it enough

Signed up for beta invite the second I found out about this. It's like they collected every gripe anyone's ever had about Ableton, ever, and based a new DAW around fixing them.

Re: 100bpm
Glitch hop is sometimes 100 bpm (can be anywhere between 90-110 usually) and it's been around for, arguably, longer than dubstep has. Maybe not under that exact alias but it's been around for ages. I'm honestly not sure why some of you are just discovering it now? :? I know KOAN and some newer excis...

I have a poster of one I inherited from my old high school right above me as I type this! It's the undisputed king of cheesy 80s FM rhodes sounds.

Re: How can I finish what I start?
Inspiration is what it takes to start the song. Finishing it is more about "perspiration" - your commitment to stick with it and follow through to the end. There's no real easy way to go about it other than to just power through and do it. Don't expect to be in love with it when it's finis...

Re: Sub Culture Youtube Channel TUTORIAL SUBMISSIONS
I agree with Cheeky - not because I think people will lose interest but from a marketing and promotion standpoint it makes more sense to release a few now to get a base channel up and running, and then a handful more (say, 2 or 3) at a time, weekly or bi-weekly, for example. Then you can advertise (...
