Re: Feeling Like An Idiot
I know now that this thread is a little old, but I've been very busy. Thank you all so much for the advice! I actually took some of that to heart. Some good tidbits in there. Also good to hear that everyone else in the world hits this wall. I just sometimes wonder stuff like "wow, is it this ha...

Re: Feeling Like An Idiot
Thanks my friend! Yes, I keep telling myself I'm bound to get better at it, but it's hard sometimes. I'm hoping that the paid video tutorial series I'm gonna invest in after I move into my new house will help me. It's hours and hours of Ableton Live tutorials, complete with the files he uses so I ca...

Feeling Like An Idiot
So I have only been doing electronic music production for a bit over a year now. I'm mainly an instrument player, so working on an entirely digital plane is vastly different. As a player, I find myself being able to compose intricate riffs and write generally pleasing leads in a song I'm producing. ...

Re: Help me understand flters! (Please?)
Damn, I thought the opposite about Ableton's automation. Compared to FL Studio it's a lot more fluid in my opinion. I think I really like Ableton. Hope I don't make a mistake by pouring time into it, and then realizing I need ANOTHER DAW xD haha. But a lot of bigger names use Ableton... Right? Or am...

Re: Help me understand flters! (Please?)
That video by cosmcosm was great, and I'm actually gonna rewatch it tonight along with his introductory stuff to see if I can't begin to understand Live 8. If anyone has any wisdom/experience to share about when they were learning Live 8 to use it to produce Electro House/Dubstep, please let me know...

Re: Help me understand flters! (Please?)
I'm gonna be at work all day, so I wont know until later if the post was helpful, but I'm eager to try everything out that you guys are telling me. I knew it was an EQ, but thanks for reminding me ;) Well, off I go. Man I hate when work gets in the way of music/fun. I need a solid amount of time to ...

Help me understand flters! (Please?)
...But not high pass and low pass in the mixing sense. I went to school for music business and learned a little about mixing/production, and I understand how you can use the filters to clean up certain frequencies. I just need help figuring out how to use filters to make those sweepy, whooshy bits t...

Re: Ripping from video games
Why don't you just take a minijack and plug the gameboy into your soundcard and record it? *facepalm* Wow! Why the hell didn't I try that x) That's a fun idea, I'll play with that just because I would have more fun with that than my emulators :P Thanks guys! Though I still am curious if anybody kno...

Re: Ripping from video games
Yeah, true, I have done the record directly from the emulator option. However, it's tougher to get the individual sound effects out of it. :D Also, there ARE a myriad of sites which offer video game sounds, but I have so many old games, I highly doubt they'll all be on there :P Anyways, thanks for t...

Ripping from video games
Hey guys, I'm back again. I stepped away from working on learning electronic stuff for a few weeks and got together with a deathcore band to play some lead guitar. But electronic music keeps pulling me back, and I am looking for a skilled person to help me out! I know it is possible to rip audio fro...

Quick Q about my vocoder...
Meh, thought i could figure it out, and Im struggling to. Real quick, basically I have a vocoder set up in FL studio. Followed this tut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91igHV0CwJk Mine is set up precisely like his, only my input is obviously different. I can easily play with the vocoder, but once I ...

Re: How to add depth to your song?
Ahh these forums can be sketchy sometimes when loading comments. Not sure if my post went through or not, so I'll sum it up here: You guys freaking rule. Keep it coming, this has ALREADY been an asset to my music. I love seeing the production side from all of you. Making music sound good is such a f...

Re: How to add depth to your song?
The first bit of advice I have done myself already :P I have been in school for some audio programs, and immediately noticed the crazy reverb in a lot of tracks. But time stretched samples? x) Got me there. What exactly do you mean? Have any examples of a well-used sample like you're referring to? A...

How to add depth to your song?
Hey guys, me again picking your brains. As I'm learning about electronic music and the creation of it, I am noticing the one thing all of the tracks that I try and make are missing: depth. As I've said before, I've been a die-hard metal head and rock guitarist for years, and this transition is keepi...

I got my vocoder set up, and it pretty much does what I wanted
I'll also work on applying the other strategies you guys mentioned later, but for now I'll just play with what I've got.

Re: Another stupid question from me xD
Uh not entirely sure if that's precisely the sound I was looking for, but that was some filthy stuff  A vocoder IS indeed what I need to get cracking on. I'm so glad I worked at a Guitar Center for over a year. I've got all the hardware I need to dial one in :D I have the most bare bones workst...

Fantastic. Thank you very much
And yes, I've been curious if there were any rig / production interviews with him worth reading. Again, thanks a million. 15 internets for you!

Another stupid question from me xD
Well, Im sure everyone loves to read my ignorant posts. Forgive me, gentlemen and women, in advance for being a total noob to electronic music production. Ask me about what pickups to put in a guitar, or why I need a 25.5" scale Wizard II neck on my guitar for what I play and I'd talk your ear ...
