Re: Clipping Drums
bares tunes are shit (imo) and he is a complete tnuc. (fact) also the sub in that tune isnt even that loud haha, sounds to me like the tune is clipping in a bad way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ30rtEhLrg ^thats a loud sub just mix your tune well and you can turn the sub as loud as you want pret...

Re: Clipping Drums
clipping is fine, even softclipping your whole mix. just dont overdo it. Mr Carmack is amazing at this https://soundcloud.com/forwardthinkers/beez-mr-carmack-redux but imo you shouldn't do it with dubstep, it only sounds good in tunes with not many elements Bare seems to be good at it, and he is du...

good idea will try!!Triphosphate wrote:Why don't you limit the kick and snare on their own premaster inserts to like -.2 db? That way you still get the same effect without making the ozone pump so hard. Just a thought.

Re: Clipping Drums
I don't think the drums in the original track sound that great at all tbh... they're just louder than the rest of the track. The mix itself is quite full of noise and lacks clarity. The snare imo is too noisey vs. tonal punch. Also you're saying the drums are at +7dB but then you say you're using O...

Re: Clipping Drums
I like to clip an 808 kick drum to get that classic distortiony sound. But I wouldn't really think about clipping snares or hi-hats or anything else, and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone else. Also, I'd like to add that I've been trying to figure out a way to clip my kicks without going over 0 db an...

Re: Reason Rewire into Ableton?

In the demo version you can use everything besides save an open projects or export sound. Its on there website on how to do it. I have a link. http://www.propellerheads.se/substance/rewir...

Reason Rewire into Ableton?
a guy i know who does pretty legit trance/house said he thinks the mixer in Reason is one of the best, which is one of the reasons he switched to reason from ableton. We were drunk at a party, cant remember specifics, but he said he is able to get his tracks louder through it. Anybody got details on...

Clipping Drums
Hey guys, recently I have found success with huge sounding drums and sub by clipping. I know clipping is obviously a noob technique, but I am wondering why as it seems to work very well with this current track (right below). For the drums what I did was floor the EQs at their proper freqs, compresse...

Re: Very disappointed with Kill The Noise show this weekend
Its like now in the British metal scene how Bring me the Horizon is made fun of as a sell out metal band who is all of a sudden shitty, when 5 years ago if you listened to them you were cool. You were never cool if you listened to bring me the horizon :cornlol: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_...

Re: Very disappointed with Kill The Noise show this weekend
I don't hate it because it is mainstream. I hate it because it comes a cross as soulless mediocrity to me. James Blake, Jamie Woon, Jamie XX...they've become quite mainstream but at least have some soul in their music. It respects roots but also tries to be something more than just the sum of a mus...

Re: Very disappointed with Kill The Noise show this weekend
im not saying everyone who has a negative opinion is a hater, obviously there wouldnt be a discussion without them. Im just saying whats the point of constantly hating on mainstream artists i feel like thats a trend on here and im trying to understand why. most of them are mainstream for a reason. i...

Re: The changing world of dubstep
it happened because americans got a hold of it, and since the USA is all about making things bigger and exploiting them for all theyre worth, the genre was raped for all it was good for, and is now the electronic version of death metal. or maybe im just grumpy. keep the sub vibes alive, my fellow h...

Pure Data + Ableton Interface
Just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone has made some awesome dubstep sounds in pure data?? and if so, has anyone interfaced their sounds with ableton or any other DAW?? Ive been messing around making some patches, and you can get some pretty sweet sounds quickly just from a few simple osc ob...
