Portable recorders, where to start?
Hey guys, I've been using my iPhone 5 to record sounds that I've been using in my tracks for a while and the sound quality is pretty good after a little processing in my DAW, but I'm looking to upgrade soon. Does anyone have any experience with portable field recorders that could help me figure out ...

Don't know about Guitar Rig, but if you have Ableton Live 9 you can use the Max for live LFO and route it to anything.

I'm digging that second track, cool slap bass in there. The growls sound pretty basic, Massive -> Ohmicide -> SugarBytes' WOW.

Re: The line between raw and badly produced
No, you should have asked "what brand and model of tape machine would I need to do this" instead of "what is the process?". They're two completely different questions. Anyways, buy one of these and some tape, probably a mixer and a few cables, and there you go...[/quote] How does...

Re: Reese bass Confusion
But has swollen ridiculously from there. It used to mean two saw waves detuned from each other. It has later on grown to include anything and everything, because there's too many stoners amongst dubstep/DnB listeners/artists that just can't be arsed to label things correctly or find out where the w...

Re: The line between raw and badly produced
I should've known I'd have to play 20 questions with you guys. What specific gear would I need? Brand and model names would be great.hudson wrote: You record it to tape, then you record it back on to the computer

Re: The line between raw and badly produced
Really interesting thread. As someone who knows almost nothing about tape, how does one go about "running something through a tape"? Like what equipment do I need/how exactly do I do it? ...etc.

Here is one I made for a remix. Start at 3:48 to hear it. It was made (drum roll)..... without Massive so If anyone is interested in learning a bit about it I'd be happy to share, cheers. https://soundcloud.com/tempicto/cheyah-temipictos-dark-wash DAMN. That's a fucking great tune. I'd love to see ...

Re: why is there no visual EQ or analyzer as rack extensions
Very true. My problem with not having an analyzer though is that my room that my monitors are in sounds kind of shit so it's nice to be able to see what is actually going on so I don't have to go back and forth between a bunch of different speakers as much.Sinestepper wrote:Ears are better than eyes for music man

Re: The Glitch-Hop Thread
Transient Master? I've heard of that, I have bought the Komplete 8 bundle but not the Ultimate. :( I often use Logic's built in Enveloper just to boost the attack and take out some tail of my kick and snare. Also, in their song Sly Fox there's a moment when the snare is completely isolated. I cut i...

Re: The Glitch-Hop Thread
As far as KOAN Sound's drums go, I've found transient shapers are often the key to getting that little extra punch that their snares do. I use NI's Transient Master or Shaack Audio's transient shaper. I doubt KOAN Sound does this, but has anyone else tried doing all the drums/percussion on a single ...

Make sure that you have an envelope on the Amp. It defaults to Envelope 4 but your init patch could've gotten messed up.

Re: Am I over layering my sounds??
Thank you for the reply man. I think I probably am guilty of turning everything up, I'm not sure how to make one sound stand out without it being equal volume to the next though. Probably the most valuable thing I learned about mixing when I first started producing was to turn everything down and t...

Re: How can I make a duckorgan bass better?
Fatter sounds = "simple" waveforms usually. Try messing about with saw, square, triangle, and sine waves and using some distortion and filtering.
