What artists would you recommend that for vocals utilise spoken prose/poetry etc instead of the traditional singing/rapping?

Good external sample manipulation software
I'm quite happy with simply chopping/stretching/repitching in Ableton most of the time, but I've personally found the way Ableton warps things to be a bit "..ehh" sometimes, and doesn't fit at all with what I want. Simpler and Sampler aren't precisely accurate either because of the traditi...

Re: What kind of vocal effects and processing is this?
I'm pretty sure you know there is loads of reverb, but I can hear a slight amount of phaser. It also sounds like they used some sort of muffle effect and eq'd the fuck out of it. Yea, I probably didn't help at all, but I'm just saying what I know. Fair enough, man, thanks for trying to help anyway ...

What kind of vocal effects and processing is this?
(Posted this before accidentally in the sound design subforum) What kind of processing is going into the creation of this sort of voice effect? It's very weird and subtle, but I don't think it's as simple as a vocoder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFUzvbkEvRk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5spCRi5...

Improving Ableton's video export quality
Every fucking time I try to export a video out of Ableton along with music I produced, the resultant video is terrible
I've tried fiddling around with the settings and googling instructions, but no such luck - same shitty quality every time. Any help, DSF?

Good music films/documentaries
Recommend some good films about music... they don't have to be documentaries necessarily, just really interesting, possibly inspiring and extremely well done. 'This is Spinal Tap', 'High Fidelity' and 'Almost Famous' come to mind... I've also looked at getting 'Punk's not Dead' but heard it's really...

He's still around, just a bit more low-key - and I think he's starting to become active again.
Check his FB page, he features on a Disclosure track from their newly released debut album.

Re: Do pros conciously do stuff like call & response
'Call and response' is the technical term, but most of the 'pros' are just attempting to emulate what they like in music they listen to.
They probably don't know the exact theory behind it, but they know it sounds good, which is why they do it.

Re: Post Your Random Thoughts: for the production heads
I find producing electronic music really unpleasant now. Sitting still and trying to produce something on a computer is really annoying me, because I know at heart I'm not inspired to do so. So instead I've gone back to playing instruments for an indefinite period of time, and I'll probably try to p...

Re: Noob question: Connecting an analogue synth to a laptop
Okay, I'm pretty sure this is meant to be working. Got the cable, plugged from the synth's headphone jack into my laptop's mic input, armed Ableton's audio track, set 'ext in' and configured it to '1/2', hit 'record' and nothing there except a lot of static (and not the good kind). Tried it with ASI...

Re: Noob question: Connecting an analogue synth to a laptop
It should have a 3.5mm jack input, usually next to the headphone output. EDIT: wub beat me to it Great machine, I've got one of these :) Output from headphone jack into the input on your soundcard. Set Ableton to record and start playing. My laptop is just a standard one... will I need an external ...

Noob question: Connecting an analogue synth to a laptop
So about a week ago I bought my first ever piece of hardware - a Korg Monotron Ribbon Delay Synth. It was cheap and it's fairly pint-sized, and I enjoyed making some weird and crazy sounds with it. But I don't seem to know how to connect it to a computer, so I can record what I do in it into Ableton...

Re: Progressive arrangements and sudden changes
Interestingly enough, I've been realizing lately that the melodic "simplicity" (aka repetitiveness, aka lack of differentiated structure) in much EDM was born out of the technical limitations of the playback systems they were intended for; as such, wild key changes over the span of more t...

Progressive arrangements and sudden changes
In progressive rock, certain types of electronica and free jazz there isn't much repetition - you can hear the song go through distinct passages which helps to build interest and keep the listener engaged and even at times disoriented, in a good way. It's not as simple as varying the beat several ti...

There's a 3xosc free clone? Do you have a link (google search doesn't come up with a download link)?smalltock wrote:I don't know if you can get the Triple Oscillator (free 3xosc clone) standalone on Mac. If so, that's a very good and easy option.

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data
I wouldn't be that knowledgable at all, I just am really interested visual programming environments. I've been using Max for about 3 years now (just before I started college). I had used Reaktor and Pure Data a bit before that. first things first Pure Data and Max could be described for all intents...

Re: Trying to wrap my head around Pure Data
if you just want to build effects and synths then you might be happier with something like Reaktor (which is kind of focused on these sort of things). but if you want to integrate real instruments into your electronic performances (send data from real world sensors to an application you've made) th...
