Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
My buddy is it annoyed that I don't like trap...
I say it's a gimmick, and even if it isn't I don't like what the whole ****** vibe brings to the EDM scene, however bad shape it might be in already.
He counters that if trap is a gimmick dungeon must be too.

Anyone else surprised Datsik was on this?
Always thought his older sound was like Dungeon on steroids.

Re: Where Is Bro/Dub step Biggest in America?
I wanna say LA. The amount of bro producers that blow up there not because they're that good (yes oxymoron to some of you), but because they're in LA.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I'm about to lose my mind. So I have a Drum Rack set up for each piece of drums; Kicks, Snares, Hats, etc. I have two kicks layered, A softer lower kick and then a higher kick. I want them to both have separate EQing and FX, and then on then on Drum Rack itself have FX to both; gluing them with perc...

Re: Getting synths to flow together...
But I don't think you understand, It's not that this new synth does not fit over the other, it's that when it comes in, the first synth cuts out immediately, as with a lot of tracks in this complextro sort of style (even in dubstep I hear synths cut in and out quickly, almost switching with each ot...

Re: Studio Monitor Speakers
Whatever you get, it will be a huge improvement over mixing in headphones, so don't sweat it too much, just don't get anything too bassy for your small room, unless your gonna go to town on the treatment. I was in a similar situation, been mixing in headphones for 2 years (senn 280 pros) but then r...

Re: Getting synths to flow together...
Longer envelopes? Err, elaborate? You could try panning some of these extra synths away from the middle. Not only will this give the track extra width and fill things out, but will help to reduce mudiness as you arn't cramming everything into the same space in the stereo field. A lot of people over...

Getting synths to flow together...
I'm pretty new to production, but this is the farthest i've come on a track before. It's an electro house sort of track, And I've got the main bass/synth on the drop, and after a few bars i have another synth come in; and then a few others to give it a more complex feel to it, more interesting. But ...

Re: Studio Monitor Speakers
Alright, well after a week of research heres what I've come up with... I've realized it seems the room is much more important than the monitors, I have no diea how fit my room is for production. But regardless I will be producing in it. My room's ceiling is 8 feet high, and the walls are 10 feet apa...

Re: Do People actually DJ with virtualdj?
VDJ 8 is actually looking to be pretty cool. Controlling visuals and stuff, but once again has the issue of not looking as professional (which, has nothing to do with functionality, but will keep people away from it) VDJ has the same rep in the DJ industry as FL does in the production industry, but ...

Re: Tracks you're loving the production on right now & why..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2nThC86vlU The bass sounds used in this, and this was really the first tune to really show me that all you need is ONE bass patch to make a killer tune. I think it's just an awesome example of automation, as if it's one synth by itself but automated to create somethin...

Re: Studio Monitor Speakers
Well, what I'm asking is, if the music i'm producing is ALL bass heavy, does that mean I need a sub to go with monitors more, or less, than if was producing any other kind of music? Cause if the sub will make the bass more powerful, wouldn't that misrepresent and completely defeat the purpose of a s...

Re: Studio Monitor Speakers
Yeah the rp8s go low but in my opinion they lack clarity. The yams are noticably more clear so I went with them and paired them with a sub. If you learn them well it shouldn't be an issue though I suppose. I love my yam setup though. Ackk, I don't wanna go out and get a sub, I want some damn monito...

Re: Studio Monitor Speakers
Well it looks the like the usual cost of the hs80ms is about $350, and that one place has em on for $215. And after googling about them, it seems they are legitimate. I think these take the cake, UNLESS, there is another tier of monitors just a little bit higher in price. I KNOW there is always sort...

Studio Monitor Speakers
I have a pair of Audiotechnica ATH-M50, which are great spinning, listening and definitely useful in production. But long hours if producing they get hot, and kinda tire my ears out. And IMO, dont really give me a good feel to the mix down, especially with drums and very low frequencies. i think i w...

Re: Can someone really explain to me the 3-note rule?
Maybe it is stupid, I dunno, just sounded like a way to begin to learn how to really work things together. But let's say there is a track played in C, the entire track is that key. Are all the notes in a certain octave, or are they all over? That C note/chord that is reoccurring, is it the same octa...
