Mixdown advice? please

Basically I've read a lot about different ways to make your sound "BIG" in the mix. I have also seen a lot of arguments as to why you should or should not do certain things to your mix from the get go. What i want to know is the benefits of either, adaptive limiting your master channel fro...

Re: Bass processing question

multiband distortion is nice to split the effected frequencies.
But yeah, make the synth sound big first. You can't polish a turd as they say

Re: Bass processing question

Try using a multiband distortion plugin such as iZotope Trash, Ohmicide or Fabfilter Saturn.
Also try to make your sound as "fat" as possible before it leaves the synth.
Camelphat has some nice sounds as well :)

I used this at college but dont have it at home, might have to invest. Making your own synth doesn't sound simple though?

Re: Sidechain plugs and how to use

I use logic and the only times I use sidechaining would be for compression or gating. Both Logic's compressor and noise gate have sidechain functionality built in, and I find it a lot easier than other DAWs.

Im sorry to say it, but, best mixdowns have to be Knife Party and Skrillex. are you serious? yes.. The topic "The best dubstep producer ever" means to me, who has the most talent, not who is your favourite producer. As much as i dislike the "skrillex growl" and Knife party bleep...

KOAN Sound's tracks are always TIGHT!

Phaeleh is just amazing!

My favourite artists right now are Noisia, Statix (these guys should be huge!), Teknian and KOAN Sound.

Re: best iOS/android music productions apps

I ikaossilator which is cool and fingerbeat is fun to mess about with too. I've recently got FL Studio and have been using it on my lunch breaks. I only have iPhone 3GS and all of these run fine, but I think FL would benefit from the larger iPad screen. The capabilities of the sequencer are quite i...

Re: Izotope Ozone

The interface is easy to get your head around, and there are plenty of presets geared for different parts of a track, or different genres of music for a final master to learn from. Theres Paragraphic EQ, mastering reverb, loudness, multiband harmonic exciter, multiband dynamics and multiband stereo ...

Izotope Ozone

I have recently discovered ozone, a mastering plugin with a limiter, compressor, stereo widening etc Has anybody else played around with this? If your not planning on sending your tracks to be mastered, I think this is a great alternative, especially if you want your tracks to be loud enough to mix ...

Re: How do you make your bassline move?

I start by getting a chunky Reece sound, then maybe assign an LFO to the osc amp controls, about halfway (creating movement on the volume of the sound) then maybe midi learn a controller to a bandpass filter, LFO rate, and main pitch. Then play around with it live until I get a sound I like. I occas...

8's all the way! My mate has 6's and I have 8's and he hates how big the difference is! Don't get me wrong, 6's are great monitors, but IMO if your making "bass music", the lower response is essential.
