It might look like a real turd to you but everyone's rating it
Oh, I have no actual opinion on the device. I was just interested in the punning.

Re: Arranging multiple synths in Ableton

If your synths are all combining to play a single melody, hocket-style, you could just program one MIDI clip and copy it, deleting the notes that you don't want each synth to play. I do this sometimes. Or you could just program a scratch track so you have something to line the other tracks up with. ...

Re: Kinda hollow sine wobble?

I might should have mentioned that if you're using Operator (or other FM synth), you need to set it so that the operators are not modulating each other (the four squares in a horizontal line in Operator). We're just using them like oscillators in an analog synth. Also, I sent it to elyhess, but here...

Re: Kinda hollow sine wobble?

Yeah, no problem. It's fairly simple. There are two parts, a basic sub and a synth playing chords. The sub is just a sine wave with some saturation and some low-passing so it doesn't sound all furry. The chord synth is two detuned triangle waves with a low pass filter (I used the SVF in Ableton Oper...

Re: Music Theory & Pitch Envelopes

Wouldn't you just write your bass part 5 semitones down if it's playing 5 semitones higher than written? (or write the rest of the track 5 semitones higher than the bass, i.e. in Cm) I guess I don't know how long your pitch envelope is. Is it just sliding up like a grace note or is it really long?

Re: plugins for formant pitch automation

You can do it in Ableton by changing the clip warping to Complex Pro and adjusting the Formant parameter. I don't think you can automate it, though, so you'd have to do it by hand while you record it to audio. Edit: Could also try using Vocoder with the carrier set to Modulator and then modulating t...

Re: How to make something like this?

If you have Native Instruments "Kontakt" I'm sure they make trumpet samplers. and there HAS to be some muted trumpet samples out there to use. Indeed, Kontakt comes with a muted trumpet patch, or at least Komplete does. Still sounds like a sampled trumpet, but if that's what you're lookin...

I honestly don't know. I know you can ReWire Ableton to Garage Band, but I don't shit about shit about Logic.

Re: Accapella and beat

What I usually like to do is import the original track (or just set the tempo to the original). Then I line up the vocal with it, and from there it's easy to just set the tempo wherever you want it and do whatever.

So, on my Mac I can go to (for instance) Battery 3 Library/07 - Battery 3 Kits/01 - Acoustic Kits/Full Jazz Kit/Full Jazz Kit Samples and there find a gigantic pile of wav files. They're buried pretty deep in the file structure, but they are right out in the open.

Re: Quick ? about vinyl

Well double the frequency is an octave higher. You're increasing the frequency by (45/33)x100=36% (approx.), so that's just over a third of an octave higher or a bit more than four semitones. To get to five semitones you'd need to go to about 33+(5/12)*33=46.75rpm. That's not quite how it works tho...
