Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Crysist, -Dare is an awesome track... very heavy... i like it a lot... -If you don't mind me asking, which granular synth do you use? Me personally, I mainly use s-layer in reaktor but that is as they say, a happy accident generator. In my growls I have used a sample of water going down a drain to ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Don't know if its been said but... -Granular synthesis has the potential to create some awesome and unique growls... I really like to use Camel Alchemy for this. -Also, Reason's Malstrom which uses a slightly different form of synthesis called graintable synthesis yields some unique results. (ex: K...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

It's art, no rules apply ^^^ :z: Generally, to get a "good" sound like the pros, you will need more distortion, phase, 2 to 3 instances of the synth for different parts of the sound, frequency splitting HEAPS of eq which in my tracks, is at least one or two extra filters alone, per sound.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

This, sorry if i came off oddly, its not every day you see someone be that specific about their process. Haha no worries at all. Sorry if I came across like a dick :P Any other questions feel f...

Yeah man agreed. I've turned it down in the DAW now so when I export the final track all will be level :)
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: splitting frequencies 2 or 3 times?

Haha it goes nuts tbh. They are all separate fab filter Eqs :) I've always liked the look of FabFilter EQ - I know it looks nice, but is it worth the cash?? Looking for a staple go to EQ It's nice to have a spectrum right on the EQ, since I use ableton I don't have that. If you're in logic though I...

Re: splitting frequencies 2 or 3 times?

This is a Reece I created, freq split into high, mids, lows, and have different effect chains on each. Very intricate but very effective. http://soundcloud.com/acetoneofficial/dare Prepare yourself ;) That does sound nice, mind a quick explanation of the processing you did? thanks :) this bass was ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Crysist - That's some good sound design! I'd be interested to hear your methods, mainly what sounds you start with and what processing you use on the different frequencies? And any other tips you'd like to share. 8) First off Thankyou :) Basically, my sound starts as a Reece bass, but I steer compl...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Not to be the noob of the thread, but I'm terrible at making growls, the one that I've always raved over was KOAN Sound's growls. ESPECIALLY the one in Talk Box & Max Out. When I try to make that sound myself, I have like no clue where to start. I have so many ideas of what I could do with that...

Re: splitting frequencies 2 or 3 times?

So I'm trying to pull out some of those really grimy reese sounds. Do I, split the low-mid & mid-high (2 splits), or the low, mid, and high (3 splits). I feel like I might lose the bulk of the movement from the sound if I split all 3 and process the mids and highs separately. Anyone suggestions...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Hmm I am having a bit of a struggle getting a hand on one concept you guys seem to use a lot - EQ modulation. I know a lot of you guys modulate various peaks in a EQ8 or a Parametric EQ2 to make a vowel like sound for whatever synth you have going - how is this done exactly? Specifically in correla...
