Re: Benefits of releasing an EP over singles?
I like to think an EP or even LP is a chance to show your listening audience your ability to cover a large spectrum of musical feel and take them on some kind of journey with your music in a sense. You could release a bunch of different kinds of singles back to back, but I think it's more ...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
I've made a pretty gnarly sounding reese bass and it was quite simple to make. You can hear it in the breakdown of this track: http://soundcloud.com/sermusic/safe-and-sound-original-mix
I made it in massive. For the reese patch I used 3 saw waves, two of which were detuned to -20ct and +20ct. I ...

Re: SERmusic - Charlie's Cat (deep)
Thanks for the critique! I value it a lot! I definitely agree I could flush it out a lot more but, I hadn't made a track in awhile and it was one of those deals where I really just wanted to make something and release it!

SERmusic - Charlie's Cat (deep)
My first go at the deep stuff  I like my music melodic so theres a ton of that in there! I feel the mixdown is good and the mastering is a preset. It was a rather simple song with a only a few tracks. The percussion I created myself and I feel that it is pretty darn good! Comments/critique MUCH ...

SER - A Hind-D! (progressive dubstep)
Here's a new track I whipped up last night! Had a fun time making this one. I love messing with melodic elements and seeing what fits and works and what doesn't. Plus I threw in some Metal Gear Solid 1 samples cause I was feeling nostalgic and who gives a fuck haha :6: Some feedback, criticism, and ...

Re: Amba Shepherd - Soldier (Cole West Remix)
The track definitely needs more mixing. The mid-range is too loud in the mix and its drowning out all of the other sounds. Make some room for your kick and snare via EQ. The arrangement is the part I like! It's a heavy tune but you need to allow space for the other instruments!

@skylerrivera17 The intro sounds good to me. Maybe a pad under the arp. Sounds kinda Nero-y. Think the main drop synth needs a bit of fattening and the snare feels a little dry. Sounding really good so far man. Sorry about the level of feedback.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Maxxan - I really like the groove to this tune! You have seem to strike a perfect balance between the bass and the piano and it sounds great. Its interesting concept and I think you pulled it off pretty darn well. Personally I'd add some more percussion to give it a faster feel but, it's your sound ...

@npcompl33t - great track man. arrangement is nice and gets me bobbing my head! definetly needs to be cleaned up quite a bit but overall a solid track that'll sound great with a complete mixdown. (not a huge fan of the snare you choose but then again thats just an opinion thing)

Re: Do I need an audio interface to hook monitors to my lapt
You dont NEED an audio interface/soundcard but Id get one asap as your onboard soundcard isnt made for music production. Your not getting the most out of your monitors by using the shitty card in the laptop. As for audio interfaces $150 isnt much tbh.Id stay away from m-audio I had bare issues with ...

Do I need an audio interface to hook monitors to my laptop?
I'm getting KRK RP5's soon and was wondering how I can go about plugging them into my laptop as cheap as possible. I've been researching this for awhile and I cannot find a simple explanation or answer anywhere. My laptop only has one 1/8" headphone jack, which leads me to think that I need an audio ...

@Skylerrivera17
Your writing is good dude. My only problem was... Are you intentionally leaving out the sub bass? If not, you need to high-pass filter all of your synths around 130hz, and then take the midi parts to your "bass line" and combine them; put this new combined midi clip on a synth that ...
