Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Just spent the past hour going through these project files, very educational! I have to say this is the most helpful post i've seen, thanks! Really interesting to see how you went about making those sounds, and they're pretty spot on too. Just a couple of questions - what was your process when you ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Here's some recreations i did of skrillex and kill the noise a while time ago. Some decent growls in there, though my more recent growls sound even better: http://soundcloud.com/zias/an-even-better-recreation-of http://soundcloud.com/zias/attempted-the-talk-to-me-bass Okay I've finally finished upl...

It could be because my version of massive is different to yours :(

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@djdizzy - I think the sub bass could be louder. And since there seems to be no mid range bass, you could add some higher harmonics to the sub bass. Maybe duplicate your sub bass, pitch it up an octave, remove high+low frequencies (bandpass it at about 1000Hz), then slap some chorus+unison onto it. ...

Re: How do YOU produce music?

It varies with every track. In DNB it tends to start with the drums. I electro/dubstep I tend to start by messing with a synth or suddenly coming up with a nice melody, then I work from there. Samples and FX usually come last. I mixdown the tune as I go along, at the end I will start listening to th...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

I need to know if my new tune sounds too glitchy or does it sound fine? I don't want to throw the listener off by making things too complicated, but I do want it to be interesting. What do you think?

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

I think he sampled it? I didn't sample it, i made the screech in massive. Here's basically what i did with the growl sounds: SKRILLEX I made a patch in FM8 which consisted of sine waves and simple waves like that. I modulated the amp of the frequency modulator to create a 'opening and closing mouth...

Re: There's a spider living in my RP5

Spread insect killer (powder) over anywhere where the spider could have gotten in. Hopefully the spider will come in contact with some of it and die. The you can use a vacuum to clear the powder and spider's dead body.

Re: Impulse [100 bpm hip hop/dubstep]

The kick definitely needs more low end to it. The sub needs to be louder.

Apart from those two mix errors, you just need to work on improving your arrangement and sound design. It could have more of a hip hop/swingy feel to it too.
