I tried the demo of Ozone. fairly good plugin, but I didn't like it...don't know why, exactly.
I like Maximus as a dynamics shaper/limiter/compressor. It's somewhat weighty on the CPU, though, but it's still pretty decent.

Re: If I were to buy a new computer...
Haven't read through anything but the OP, so... No, you don't have to reinstall anything. However, the painfully irritating part is that you will always have to boot into whichever workspace you want to use. If you're doing something on your casual-use hdd and want to start producing, you'll have to...

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Perhaps they won't be keeping the Ableton GUI...perhaps they plan to create a new interface, because GUI's can take a lot of work to create, and if they choose openGL for their graphics library (most likely) then it will take all the more time. Either way, it looks like a serious piece of software. ...

Re: Importance of quality plugins
While certain paid plugs can, no doubt, improve the sound quality...it needs to be acknowledged that with or without paid plugins, any sound...any collection of harmonics, can be created. This means that the same sound can be generated with or without these plugins, although it's likely to be a bit ...

Re: Improving my drums?
After spending so much time trying to perfect my drum techniques and make big drum sounds, I realized that it was a fruitless effort. When so much effort is put into the drums, they drown out everything else and the whole track just becomes a mess. A much bigger overall effect would be to create per...

Re: Galvanize - Wobble?
I bet he just makes the sound as if it wasn't wobbling. By this, I mean, make a sound that goes oowwaaahh as a solid note. Then 'wobble' it how you want. In case you don't know how to give the sound such vocal properties, it's through a process known as "Formant Filtering/EQ'ing." (Google ...

Re: Waveshaper
The Melda plugs MWaveshaper is pretty great. More features than the stock FL one for sure. But if I'm remembering correctly, the quality is far more limited on the melda one than the fruity one.

Re: New producer needing alot of advice
Study the way sound works and the correlation between harmonics and whatnot. Also, if you feel like it, try your 'luck' at sound design solely in audacity.

Re: Improving my drums?
You pretty much have the right idea. But the thing to remember is this: DON'T just stack all the above plugins on your drums. Every time you add/tweak/remove/etc. a plugin, A-B it to make sure you're doing something to benefit the sound rather than degrade it. The same principle goes for any other t...
