Hey dudes,
Thought I would share this tut I made today, the patch also bears similar sonic quality to Skrillex Reptile. Let me know what you think.

Re: Too Much EQ'ing
EQ should be used for mixing, not sound design. I try to use as little EQ as possible, it makes the composition better if everything sits in its own range without EQ.Bassf4ce wrote:If you have to eq a sound to the point you have 9 Eq's is it even worth using that sound?

Re: Sampling drums - pro's and cons
If you are using Pre-Processed samples, like Vengeance, Sample Magic, Loop Masters, Prime Loops whatever it is. Layering those kicks on top of each other will give you bad results because all the samples are already fully processed, layered, compressed, EQ'ed etc. Don't just layer samples for the h...

Re: Can someone really explain to me the 3-note rule?
I truly believe it's a bad habit to be spreading your OSC across octaves, you are just losing space in the mix for no reason. If you own an iPhone, there is a free app called Nota (or at least I think it's free). It's a great app to quickly learn some music theory and check your scales/chords etc.

Re: Sampling drums - pro's and cons
tbh i find 100 hz kicks to be pretty weak...for me, 60-80 is the sweet spot I agree, 80hz is the go to THUD freq. if producing Bro Step or Neurofunk something hard like that. Vengeance samples will get you there. If your going Burial status however, those really poppy 100hz kicks are the way to go....

Re: Questions regarding FM8, Massive
I have looked at many tutorials on youtube regarding these two VST's but some don't seem to answer a few questions I have and I was hoping someone here could. -What is the general rule to getting a hardcore dubstep bass? Is there a certain wave you should use or would anything work? -When creating ...

Re: How would you go about replicating this bass?
sounds like a fat and heavily resampled saw wave that pitches down. two layers, same sound, one with the formant filter going on, one dry. No offense, but this is very far off and not correct advice. Hey guys, I was just wondering how you guys with a little more experience would recommend replicati...

Re: Reason 6.5
there have been some insane threads over on the propellerheads forum today. some people, naively, believed that just because the rack extension store resembles the apple app store model that the prices would be similar. people expecting everything to be priced sub €20, no fucking joke. I think this...

Re: Knife Party - Centipede Bass Tutorial
Cool patch, I'm definitely going to give this a go. Out of interest, why did you use Etchs LFO on Thors filters? Why not just run the signal through Etches filters? P.s quite like your "Noisia Reese" patch too. :Q: Forgot all about this thread. Umm, I used Thor out of just playing around,...

Re: Sub bass frequency limit???
I'm using a single oscillator with sine as the wave form, playing in the 0 or 1 octave. Hard to fuck that up, man. You're sine wave is not creating harmonics that are effecting your mix. Low passing/EQ'ing is not necessary by any means and will probably just screw up the purpose of your sine wave. ...

Re: Underworld pad
Try this, I haven't tried but this might get you on the right track. Take 2 Saw Waves, detune them 1-2 cents from one another. Route one wave through one band pass filter, and the other through a separate band pass filter, if possible, pan these two filters separate from each other so ones on the ri...

Re: Sub bass frequency limit???
Sorry for digging, but I see no need in making a new topic. What should be upper limit in sub bass? I'm finishing my 1st tune and I EQ'ed my sub like this: http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/1571/beztytuusuv.jpg Do not EQ, or compress your pure sine wave sub. It does not need it at all, just don't ...

Re: Skrillex Saws? - (NOT BASS, and not what you think eithe
Thanks. The bouncing to audio tip I hadn't really thought of, and yeah I know layering is key, but my supersaws are never really punchy enough and sound more like pads, and I suppose I'm just looking for tips to give them the power and punch I need.:) Well like I said, a lot of the "punch"...
