The Color Wavetable
'The color wavetable' - sounds like a book title, damn. Hey DSF, its been a while since my last post, and I've just been trying all kinds of new shit since then. I've been aiming for a 'modern' deep house sound lately and I'm really interested in making dissonant chords and soul chords. I've always ...

Re: Need some SERIOUS advice on curbing this writers block.
Yea. The are using the original vocal track IMO. Having listened to the original tune a bit I would say this is the kind of track that promo vinyls (maybe CD now?) would have an a capella b-side. As said in my first response to this thread, go crate digging for vinyl. In the 80's and 90's lots of &...

Re: Need some SERIOUS advice on curbing this writers block.
If you really can't be arsed to get over yourself and try to record your own vocals either buy some sample packs, find a vocalist to collab with, or start buying promo vinyls from the 90's with a capella tracks. I find them cheap as fuck all the time. It doesn't even have to be signing, most of tho...

Need some SERIOUS advice on curbing this writers block.
sorry its not a dubstep related question. (does it even matter anymore? havent been here in so long) First, let me say, that I've been producing steadily for about 4 years now. I'd like to think that I know the ins and outs of my DAW (FL studio) fairly well and I have a not-to-shabby ability ...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
I'll edit this post with feedback for some of the posts above me in less than 30 minutes, I promise :Q: EDIT: I keep my promises. @JockMCPlop intro is so smooth! I think the kick could have more weight and the risers you use don't really fit in well in my opinion. Overall, really good work. I'd make...

Mine's the last song on the previous page, would love some feedback. I'll be happy to give you some crit today too, just don't have my sp...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@orlandobloominonion: Love the chillness of this! I personally would change that saw lead synth though, the melody is fine but the synth is kind of boring, but everything is pretty cool! I'd tighten up that kick a bit and add a sub at certain sections (but thats just me). Not sure of the part 1.50 t...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I have not been on DSF in a longgg while. And I havent made a growl in even longer (i've been making less dubstepyy music for the last half a year) what do you guys think? fm8 and mostly FL built in filters. I honestly forgot how to get a more vowely texture out of growls, lmao. So this is the best...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
mthrfnk The kick in the intro sounds a bit weird to me, idk why. It's very well mixed, very clear and comes through nicely, but I think there's too much high end in it? The second snippet (probably the breakdown/buildup) is the best imo. Very nice vocal chopping in this section!! Love the note spaci...

Well first, define "goes to shit" after 2 bars?

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
orlandobloominonion Lol first post. It's nice. The synths are bit too loud and I feel the kick could use more low end. Also what the hell is a minnesota vibe? Not saying I don't enjoy his work, but you know, he kinda does have an advantage over other producers who are trying to get their name out there and stand out.nitz wrote:There we go, i know someone had the answer

He goes to a production school in Amsterdam. He gets plenty of help and has access to mastering engineers and some pretty expensive hardware too.

Re: Tip For Young Producers!
4. Don't include your age in your bio. It pisses people off and is a turn off. A buddy of mine runs a label and the minute he sees "x-teen year old producer" in a bio it's a huge turn off. Still listens to their track though. But it's really unnecessary to say how old you are. what if you...

Re: Burial atmospheric pad?
At least you can make pads, all my pads sound the same; layered saws at different octaves/tones with some phase, panning, and loads of cuttoff on a LP filter and resonance. I'd say that these pads are layered to have a lowend, mid, and high. I think theres some orchestral strings/woodwind and I hear...
