Me too. Started like four tracks this morning, worked on each for like two hours only to end up hating their guts. It's been a rough day.nowaysj wrote: I'm so out this week. I've never been more out. I'll prolly be out be f week too. Next week.

Re: What's a "healthy" looking waveform?
The first one looks the best to me. It looks like it's loud but still dynamic, but I don't trust my eyes, I trust my ears. Also soundclouds newer player thing is whack.

^^^^^^^Best budget option IMO
Also, I wouldn't worry about plugins right now. I would just learn the stock plugins for whatever DAW you get and learn how they work and how to make those sound good before you get anything fancy.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I think I'd like that synth better though if the melody was darker. You preempted my crit of your song: would like it better if it wasn't so dark. Different strokes. Haha didn't realize that. I think it's safe to say there will be a lack of tuna'ing this week due to the holidays though?...

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Feedback for this week Bud: I like this track a lot, but I feel like it could benefit from a nice pad and maybe some more percussion. The mix is pretty nice though, I would like a little more thump on the kick, but I cant really tell cause I'm not listening on a good setup. Overall it's a dope track...

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I can never get a mix right if I start the tune on just my laptop speakers or headphones. Even if I start it on my ath m-50's. I think it's just because i'm used to starting on the av 40's and then mixing between them and the ath m-50's. But if the mix was that shot, I wouldn't have the patience to ...

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Damn, using a trackpad is the one thing that puts me off of making music the most. I hate them with a passion. I guess my setup could be worse, I should stop being a spoiled bitch.

Yeah, I hadn't posted here in awhile and just realized dfault changed his name. I'm stoked on this week though, my shit isn't all the way finished, but I'm trying to get back on some hiphop shit. My setup is fuckin' shitty right now, but it's actually kind of inspiring me. I have some M-audio av40's...

Re: How many times could you layer something and what with?
Drums I usually fatten up with saturation and some parallel compression. Pads I just layer a different pad maybe an octave up or down depending on why it's thin, and then process it however I see fit. Melodies I just copy the midi pattern and layer another synth or instrument over it and compress th...

Re: DRUMS! XD
Get urself a midi drum pads thing (korg pad kontrol). My drums have improved drastically since I use that over my keyboard Yeah the padkontrol is dope. I can second this advice, playing your drums in on pads helps a lot. I use a mix of both playing in and programming though because I find that my d...

Yeah, I guess "older" is kind of decieving since it' from like 09? "Shlo-fi" and "places" are two albums of his that have been on repeat for like two weeks. "Camping" is my favorite album of his though.
