Re: Monarch Audio Mastering review?

Re: Mastering Etiquette

Agreed that you should be able to inquire but any of this before proceeding, it is your money afterall. Someone that actually cares about giving you the best results would be happy to discuss it. Usually an ME with analogue would already use what is appropriate for the track if they have the ...

If you're running out of cpu then yes bounce some things down, just make sure to leave a backup project in case you need to change later obviously.

Some people prefer to 'master' as they go which is fine if you can do it properly. It's when people go overboard and rely too much on the master buss ...

Main thing would be a good quality limiter so you can get an idea of how the mix will sound once mastered.

I do not agree with mixing into a limiter, this would mean your channel gain structure is not correctly set up which is ...

Re: What effects to put on Master Channel?

Main thing would be a good quality limiter so you can get an idea of how the mix will sound once mastered. Aim for 4db or so there so it's not over done. That will be a good guide for the mixdown as if the mix isn't loud enough then it's usually down to the sounds/arrangement etc..

Digital has generally gotten better over time as well, personally I like a mix of both.

Re: Putting an eq on the master channel

As others have said usually the less you have on the master the better later on. I get lots of tracks from people who have overdone the stereo buss processing and when it's taken off for proper mastering the mix just falls apart and is unsuitable for work on my end.

It's fine to have a bit of ...
