Re: Why do we compress anything but the master?
I usually do very slight compression on individual tracks (1,5:1 or 2:1 ratio max usually), then compress for another 1,5:1 or 2:1 in the buss to glue them a bit, and then just straight to the master channel compression, also usually never above 2:1 on the C6 there, and then straight to limiting. I ...

zeta wrote:'Call and response' is the technical term, but most of the 'pros' are just attempting to emulate what they like in music they listen to.
They probably don't know the exact theory behind it, but they know it sounds good, which is why they do it.

Re: Head Room Logic
Okay so a few questions im just gonna bullet point them: Leave headroom for a final master, okay cool. So i leave around 2-6dB. Then would it be best to master in the logic file or export then load the wav in a new file to save on cpu, or is there other benefits? Well i had a little go at this, whe...

Re: Idea for drums in logic...
I think that's like the most common problem for logic user around, getting them drums down. I personally use ultrabeat, but that's mostly for house. I very seldom use the esx24, because I just don't find it satisfying. Spend more time with the EXS. Get to know it. It is HUGE for playing around with...

Re: Strange Sub Bass Issue...
Glad to hear you worked it out. You might wanna watch out for that tuning thing though. If you have one oscillator set at 23.00 that means it's playing a major seventh above the root note which will be out of key depending on what note the bass plays. If I were you I'd use the fine tuning instead. ...

This. Just edit that volume envelope. Can be done on audio samples/clips too.3za wrote:For electronic music I don't really see much use for them, just change the env on the synth/sampler your using.

[Garage] bkwsk - Talk to me (Free DL)
I'm giving this tune away to celebrate 20K plays on my Soundcloud account. It's straight UKG but has a lot of sound design and ever-changing structures and melodies on it. Any kind of feedback is, as always, greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy this too. If you do, there are download slots still avai...

Re: ERROR·382 LOST FUTURE (Deep Dubstep)
Pretty nice work man. The synth arpeggio polyrhythm thing needs a little bit less low end I think, it's muddying the mix, especially after 1.30 when the percussion comes in. Horns are nice.

Nice track man, gritty and to the point. And judging by the waveform, you can still add even more compression m8! (lol). Snare could use a bit more high end though I think.

Intro is pretty fine. After the drop, the kick is a bit lost imo. Also cheesyness, but that comes with the romanian samples
.

They host a sample competition at http://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction/. We're also trying doing a musical cadavre exquis on the IRC channel, might be cool.
