I've actually just literally done that now, seeming to give better results. I've also changed which plugin I've been using for verbs and it's a lot better quality:D

Tips on using reverb?

Hey, I haven't really seen much information on how I can use reverb to improve the sound of a mix. I recently noticed that some songs that I have listened to have sounds with heavy reverb and long decay and sound pretty good. In the past I've always only applied miniscule amounts of reverb; I'm actu...

Filling the mix - Without filling it

I've literally just heard this song now and it perfectly describes my problem: https://soundcloud.com/koan-sound/risky-endeavours It sounds what I consider to be full and well produced, yet it only involves a bassline and drums. How is this possible? How do I make a song sound full when it only has ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread

Considering I can hardly afford monitors, I doubt it. But still, its something to think about in the future.
Then get good headphones. Headphones are MUCH better than monitors in an untreated room.
Can you recommend a decent pair of headphones?

Re: Sub bass level

You're producing on cheap logitech speakers? Seriously? Unfortunately, yes, I've been producing on them for about three years now. My parents have finally decided to buy me some monitors. @thread There are no precise values, but you must know that sub bass is a special kind of sound. There is a thr...

Re: Sub bass level

just A/B something with a solid sub-bass on your setup and fine tune to choice. a sub with 80hz response is going to suck no matter what though, you should really consider upgrading your setup. edit: i see you might be getting monitors for xmas, look forward to that haha. But the problem is that no...

Re: Sub bass level

Perhaps A/B a tune you like using a spectral analyser and aim to hae the sub levels sitting in a similar way. Not a bad idea I suppose. I mainly just want advice on how loud the sub should be in comparison to the drums. Say if the drums are -8dB, then the sub should be about 2dB less than that? Or ...
