Re: Pointless task or not?
Awsome advice again thanks! "Repetitive" yeah I gues so, I find the more different ideas I get in there the more of a mess it becomes and the more I have revert to all the "tricks" to try to make it work. It's clearly all practise so the question is now do I carry on practising l...

Re: Pointless task or not?
How do you get on these Zomboy cam sessions? Well ok guys thanks for all the advice, this is what I came up with in the end not much length wise and its not the greatest I know. I applied no conscious science to it but I did do as I do, I just didn't threat about stuff i just stuck it in there and h...

Re: Pointless task or not?
It really depends in my opinion. Of course... just experiment! Find YOUR way of doing things. For example, the track in my sig, was created purely out of me throwing shit loads of effects onto the kick for about 3 hours, randomly twiddling knobs because as soon as I heard the kick when browsing thr...

Re: Pointless task or not?
"Guy's I'm planning to do "xxxxxx", but I'm making this thread first to get your approval" Just do it, can't be a bad thing... it's all practice. If it's shit, so what - bin it or make it better over time. That's how production works, just experiment. :4: Tbh when I make stuff I...

Re: Pointless task or not?
what do you reckon? Well I don't know what is more important I'm asking you guys. I've been doing this about 9 months and maybe I'm feeling like I'm getting so overwhelmed with science that its clogging up the creative side of my brain. How do you strike a balance? It's a difficult one.... See that...

Re: Pointless task or not?
Well although that is a good point I'm not the best person to judge, I mean I could think its the best track in the world ever but it could sound like shit. "Why don't you post it" I hear you say, well how can you judge since I'm not that experienced anyway. I've not been doing this a year...

Pointless task or not?
Today as an experiment I plan to make a track as quick as possible, not use any analysers and forget the science and just throw down exactly what I think sounds good at the time. Is this a waste of time? It will be like the first time I ever made music except I know the DAW pretty well, what do you ...

Re: Annoying white noise on lead sounds
You said you would layer a lot of synths together right? Well given the amount of harmonics in a saw wave and if you look at what makes up white noise then especially toward the high end you are going to notice a big mush which resembles noise. Someone already mentioned making a layer for the highs ...

Re: How to soften distortion?
Ha ha the bells, lol it's just a loop from vengeance future house, I've only been at it since I started on here, couple of months at most so not to clever with my production yet :( lol I just posted it to find out what you guys would do to combat that harshness, I do know there is plenty of other st...

Re: How to soften distortion?
A lot of time the grit comes from very high frequencies, sometimes lowpassing your mid range bass can bring out the sound a lot! Ive thought about this as the problems I'm getting seem to be high up, Ive not got any multi band plugin and splitting the frequencies is not realistic for me at the mome...

How to soften distortion?
My distortion always sounds very gritty no matter what distortion plugin I use wether it's sausage fat or whatever. I kind if get used to it, not notice how gritty it sounds and then realise that everything sounds gritty in a shit way yet when I take it off I loose something. What I think I need to ...
