Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
We don't understand how gravity works and we can't say that it won't just suddenly stop due to an undiscovered force. At any moment we could all be ejected from earth and into the vacuum of space and die painfully, and we can't truly say why it won't.
fuck.

Re: Live Return Channel Question
You could also not use a return channel at all, if you're trying to do what I think you're doing. You can add a wet/dry control to any audio effect with Live with groups and macros. Drag in the filter, or whatever effect you want to and put it in a group. Name the chain 'wet'. Then create another ch...

http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/korg-electribe-emx-1-554212.jpg Get one of these, (Korg Electribe). Or any other alternative. They make you think in a different way. You become much less fussy about creating that 'perfect' sound and get some more creative ideas. I use mine for inspirat...

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
Ok, so I have polished it to the best of my ability and I think it sounds as good as it possibly can. I think it's time to call it quits for this one so I can start on some others.
Thanks for all the feedback!

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
The biggest thing for me seems a lack of artistic direction (whether or not intentional) It seems you have a very laidback / musical type thing which is just looking to plod along but then some elements are not wanting to be there. (kinda like a speed head in a room full of stoners :6: ) which way ...

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
I think your bassdrum deserves a little more space in the mix man So, maybe a little reverb and increase the level a bit? Think he's referring to the clash in frequencies between the kick and the sub. EQ/sidechain compression/sample choice can help sort you out. This. It isn't punching hard enough ...

Re: Mac Mini for production?
It doesn't matter what computer you're using, as long as it runs your DAW of choice well enough. I'm using a white MacBook running Lion, It has no problems running Ableton Live 8. I also have an external display. I have lower specs than that computer too so you should be good for a good long while. ...

Hello, I'm Max. My alias is Sewage Canal and I like old school Dubstep
Well I'm sure I'm a newcomer, seeing as I didn't know this thread existed! I've been part of this forum for a few days now.

Re: DubSHK - 013b - [Dark, Heavy, Deep]
The drums aren't nearly strong enough man. There needs to be a great big thud whenever the kick hits, and a nice slap on the snare. At the moment, there's some high end 'pop' for the kick and a resonant 'cshh' on the snare. Get an EQ up and boost some of those key frequencies. I completely agree ab...

Yeah, it's a little bare. I think you should add some Hi Hats and as dub by_rdam said, add a big phat synth to it.

Re: James Blake edit/Untitled choon
I'd say that Untitled is possibly the best I've heard. It's definitely up there! It has everything that a great track should have, the synth is great and a relaxing beat. It's a great chilled track! I wish I could make things like that.
Yamez is also lovely to listen to. I also love the beat of it.

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
I like the buildup, tho you might add something to it. Drop is nice, the sub is OK/good. Distinct. It does dominate a bit... I dunno, polish the tune a bit more and then have a proper Engineer master it. :) Second drop is nice, getting a bit repetitive tho. Maybe that's par for the genre I guess? I...
