Re: Has anyone used binaural beats in their song?
fuck that.. i used to try this binaural drug-simulation music.. WHICH, SUPPOSEDLY, could induce different types of highs by efffecting you're brain waves or something. Too bad it didn't work.. actually I did pan hihats in a remix i jsut did. super-fast trap hihat runs, and i panned them hard L+R in ...

Re: Skrillex Remix Opportunity.
I actually saw this on beatport first and was super excited to do it. Never really did a full remix but I spent some time on this one. Its like a trap type sound with some buildups. It was hard to do much with a reggae-esque song imo but I gave it my best. lemme me know what you guys think http://pl...

Sample Legal??
I'm hoping to upload a remix i'm doing for a contest on indabamusic.com. i haven't read all the rules but i'm sure they exclude remixes if all the samples are not cleared. I used a the "guy singing dddeeaaahh" sample from Porcelain by Moby. Its like a really quick echoey note acapella towa...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
http://soundcloud.com/instep-1/yahweh_is_god im sorry but this is a double-post. A local storm knocked out the internet at my house for the last week but i'm at a starbucks so its all good. This growl I made with fm8, ableton vocoder, guitar rig, and ohmicide (and honestly thats about it) fm8= init...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
What do you think? I actually quite like that. I especially like that clicking sound at the start of each note. thanks. I appreciate that. somehow the downsampling made much crisp. I'm convinced that downsampling+pitch shifting+multiband distortion = robotic growl sound every one wants to make.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Gonna be a complete stab in the dark, but anyway. Youve got your basic FM8 bass setup: OP1 as sine, OP2 modulating it as triangle, both of them slightly detuned (very slightly). The instrument itself is pitched down at least 2.5 octaves. I reckon theres a third and fourth modulator in there both fe...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
http://soundcloud.com/instep-1/granade-maid-1 not a great growl really, barely a growl. but for this one I chose not to use any standard filters but instead used only eq 8 . I set the range to 200% so my band passes would be all the more noticeable. BTW, the way I do the automation is I link all th...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
You have secrets? would'nt you like to know big boy? The growl sounds too wide, it'll probably collapse in mono. And there's no weight to it - the frequencies are too high and irritating. Try using a formant chart and bring out some of the lows. I listen to your track and its quality so I won't get...

Re: Mastering/Masterbus make bettering
I've noticed that a lot of professional tracks DO have highend cuts. Some excision songs that I played through ableton and observed the waveforms with Span showed that everything after 14 sometimes 16K was just brickwalled out. and when I do it I don't notcied the mix becoming dull.. you just lose a...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I can't believe everyone is calling me an asshole. I'm not asking for nor do I want people to say "omg your the best" but my bass sound is undeniably in another league from anything made on this forum. Its not that i'm arrogant either. I jsut know how much work i put into sound design and ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
OK so i'm making alot of progress with this growl I'm using a different technique I call head-chopping.. (has to do with eq and compression) the big problem i'm having righjt now is i'm getting a high-pitched resonating sound along with my bass.. it sound like its somewhere around 10-15khz but it do...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
one thing I will say is that I have had very little luck modulating the operators and carriers within fm8.
the best sounds i've got have been through modulating filters and effects

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
i used some wow filters, camelphat (which adds the nice flanging effect).. and honestly a shitton more than I'd rather keep secret haha When you say the cabinet sound? Are you referring to the shrill upper harmonics that are too harsh? because I find that is often a problem. I actually just realized...

Mastering/Masterbus make bettering
I'd like to get your guys insight on mastering or perhaps jsut mixing in general on your master bus and other busses. But mainly your master bus. Its weird because I have heard that you should "put light compression, barely any eq, subtle this, not to much of that" on your master bus. But ...
