Re: Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
I have tried as mthrfnk said and for now, it does make a slight difference, even on the mix down itself. I think that the "real" difference will really stand out on the master. Thanks a lot!

Re: Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
Thanks for the info
That is applicable as well for mix busses, right?

Re: Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
Thanks jonahmann, I guess it makes sense even though I would imagine that if the signals sum up anywhere, it's through the master channel rather than "on the way into the master channel". I'll just stick to that!
By the way, I assume it works the same with busses within the mix?

Re: Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
About the original post: no mixer channel is clipping ever, and usually at unity gain my master is clipping approx 1-2db, so I just pull it down until I have around 3db headroom on the loudest parts of my mix

Re: Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
Thanks for the answers! Talalt: I don't think I have bad mixing skills when it comes to blending everything together, it's more of a mix down preparation for mastering type of question, but your post was pretty interesting to be honest. If ever a beginner producer reads this though, I would have to ...

Lowering the master fader vs individual tracks
I have a question! When I read about preparing mixdowns for mastering, I obviously read everywhere to keep good headroom. However, sometimes, it is mentioned that you should lower the volume of each individual track and not simply pull down the master fader. Why is that? The reason behind that is no...

Re: Compressor for sidechaining?
Well, I was thinking of getting the Pro-C, especially since I have a student discount account on Fabfilter. Plus, this has a lookahead option, unlike the compressor I use, meaning I sometimes had to sidechain my shit with a muted track a couple of samples early. Thanks anyways for the answer

Re: Compressor for sidechaining?
Actually, I know my fair share about compressors. If you listen to tracks like "Boom" (xKore), you can definitely hear synths being ducked down pretty low by the kick and snare but going back up to their original volume very quickly, or at least faster than I can get my synths to without t...

Compressor for sidechaining?
Hey everyone! I'd like to know what you think is the best compressor for sidechaining, especially for drums. Some producers that have wicked drums imo are Knife Party, xKore and Noisia for example, and you can clearly hear that their kick and snare is sidechained to synths but with incredible speed....

Re: Wav to MP3 problem
Always used my DAW (Pro Tools) to do everything (composing, designing sounds, mastering etc ...) and I've never had such a problem, but I might have a go at a different converter. Any other suggestions? (Thanks to ehbrums1 and 1point5
)

Re: Wav to MP3 problem
Yes, it's 320 kbps. I also checked, nothing is on the master, and it's not clipping anytime

Wav to MP3 problem
Hey everyone, there might be topics about this but I have looked around and found none, so here's my try: today, and for the first time, I've experienced huge quality drop simply by compressing a wav to an mp3. Obviously, an mp3 file will never be as rich and full sounding as a wav, but the quality ...
