Sonic Academy Kick a go-to for snares?
Just wondering what your thoughts were on whether you see Kick as a primary option for snare creation as well.

wub wrote:How long have you had it? Thought the filter modulation stuff was one of the main selling points, TBH
Not too long, I always just use it to distort the crap out of a bass and then I ease up on the wet/dry. I thought it was basically just an Ohmicide--not so!

Filter modulation in Izotope Trash 2!
I so decided to quit preset surfing today and actually learn Trash 2, and discovered that there's some extensive filter modulation capabilities built in! Anybody been having any luck with it? Thanks.

I've tried both, I'm just curious what techniques you good people are using.fragments wrote:Why dont you just load uo two of the same patch and check it out for yourself.

Dimension Expander vs. Gated Reverb on basses
Both seem like good techniques, I was just wondering which you guys preferred.

This tutorial exemplifies gated reverb, but someone commented that dimension expander works the same way, and it got me thinking. Thanks.

Stereo subbass?
I lo passed KTN's 'Kill the Noise Part 1' til like 30 hz, and Waves PAZ was still showing some stereo information. Checked out some Pretty Lights tracks and the same thing, except he has waaay more stereo info down there. I always thought subbass should be in mono, or at least way higher than 30hz?

Do I still need to make a separate subbass w this technique?
Never thought of bypassing and sending a sub OSC in Massive straight to the output. Does this mean having a subbass layer in a separate synth is unnecessary?

What's your groove/swing of choice in FL?
I'm coming over from Ableton and Logic, which had precise numbers identifying its grooves--I usually stuck w/ 16C in Logic for example. What do you guys prefer to use in FL as far a quantization goes? I'm exploring DnB and Funk/Tech House in addition to Dubstep, so maybe if you could offer a suggest...

Anybody use Guitar Rig as a channel strip?
I've been playing around with Guitar Rig's other functions besides amps, cabinets, and distortion today, and am finding that this has almost every effect one could want all in one plugin. Yet I've never seen anyone use it as like an Izotope Alloy where it's kinda like an all-in-one to save CPU. The ...

Re: Layering bass with mono sub vs. mid-side EQ
You can do that, but by having a separate sub channel gives you more overall control as its in its own channel ect... I tend to do mid-side eq after I buss all the basses together anyway towards the end for a final polish and tweak this is the way to go,but sometimes when your resampling especially...

Layering bass with mono sub vs. mid-side EQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_-PjWts3nI I was watching this at 2:45 and it got me thinking. Instead of highpassing your bass at 80-120hz and inserting a mono sub below that, would it be just as effective taking that main bass and just highpassing the "side" of the bass and keeping the ...

Re: Automating Vocodex destroys my CPU
So use JBridge...are u using 10.9 beta, and is that 64-bit compatible? I dunno how I'd get a 64-bit version of Vocodex when it's included in 10.0.9c 32-bit that I have.Eskimo wrote:Bridge it maybe?

Automating Vocodex destroys my CPU
Just wondering if anyone had this problem. When I automate a few parameters of Vocodex in FL with no other plugins or effects running, my CPU reaches max, even with "draft" selected. I don't have this problem with any other plugins, even CPU-intensive third party plugins. Thanks.
