Re: What kind of headphones do you use?
Yeah as Electric Head says, that's the reason I decided to go for them. They were primarily bought for production purposes and so maintain a good flat response. Until then I hadn't read up on the whole open back headphones concept, but they are designed to better convey a more natural sitation in a ...

Re: external soundcard for production
He has a new soundcard in the new set up therefore doesn't want to keep the old one purely for production purposes and would like to make some money back by trying to get a new card by selling the old one. It's not something I use but have you tried ASIO4ALL drivers which are designed to lower laten...

Re: What kind of headphones do you use?
I use the AKGK701 http://www.tivolihifi.com.au/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/akg-akgk701-d29c328.jpg these are pretty good, but I don't use them as often as I should as I tend to spend most of my time working straight off the monitors. They are open backed, and so are designed to natur...

Re: Dead Noise System Forwarning (deep dark)
Like the others have said, the mood's great and has a nice dark feel to it. You just need to sort out the perc a little and get more variation going on with it. Some distant echo ethnic drum rolls or hits would work every now and again I think.

Re: Where do you lowcut your kicks?
I tend to roll off as the majority have mentioned using a low cut around 40 or 50 hz region. I haven't actually tried using a low shelf though. I tend to notice that house carries weightier kicks to it than both dubstep and dnb. I'd assume that the use of long sustained bass notes in both DnB and Du...

Optimal Prime Presents - Collateral Magic ft. Host Jason X
Here's the newest set we have put together for October featuring MC host Jason X throughout who's managed an excellent job overall. The mix is dubstep with energetic tracks for the first half, switching styles to much more deep medi orientated music for the latter half. http://i1131.photobucket.com...

Re: adding "grain" and "warmth" to a mix
I've not heard of that Saturn plugin from Fabfilter. I use a couple of their existing plugs, Volcano and Pro-Q and they have both become key established plugs I use in my workflow on a regular basis. I'm gonna look into this one. I think warmth is a combination of saturation and mangling fx and the ...
