"Tighter"/Pro Mixes?
Ive been producing for a couple years now, but lately I feel kind of stagnated. I can write good music, but mixing and mastering is where i fail, I've read and watched video tutorials and yet can't seem to achieve a "tight" mix, I've already read the moneyshot thread dw. [SOUNDCLOUDPLAYER]...

Re: New Laptop for producing
The one you currently have should do fine, but it isn't so we'll skip that. I don't get it though, any 2012/2013 pro will do better than fine. I have a 2012 8GB 2.4 and yeah it doesn't let me load twelve instances of bullshit, but is that really the thing that's holding your production back? The en...

New Laptop for producing
I currently have a 2010 13' MPB with the following specs: -8gbRam -2.6 Intel Core Duo -750GB ...and currently use logic pro 9, however i cant seem to run more than 5-6 Sylenth1 tracks + 5 audio tracks at the same time without the system overloading (even when running in 64 bit). My current computer ...

Re: Percussive Pluck Synths
Chromaphone is what Knife Party used for LRAD. Some of the other tracks out there are actually Vengeance percussion samples. Chromophone is nice I highly recommend it. But if the OP's got Ableton Suite, Tension is pretty similar to it. i use mainly logic pro, but i guess i could rewire into it or s...

Percussive Pluck Synths
Im trying to do the typical new electro drop synth that everybody seems to be using now, i just cant give depth to my plucks which are basically 8xsaws on sylenth with cutooff rolled. Any insight on how make them hit hard? layer them with drums or something like that?

The Mixing and Mastering Science behind bootlegs?
To prevent terminological confusion, within the context of this thread bootleg will refer to using pieces or parts of an original song and adding bits of your own production to it, NOT a remix where you take a stem or acapella and redo the entire song. Ive been hitting the wall hard with this topic ...

Re: Loudness perception and maximization
You could instead turn this thread into a discussion on maintaining dynamics after limiting or something. But anything to do with "listen to my track and help me improve it" falls under the feedback forum. It sounds from your description like you're overdoing the loudness maximization and...

Re: Loudness perception and maximization
yeah but i understood its for general track feedback, what im looking for here is help adjusting the maximization of gainSunkLo wrote:I didn't listen to it but automate your master limiter during different parts.
There's also a whole section devoted to feedback.

Loudness perception and maximization
A while back a posted a horribly mastered track i made, and ever since ive been working hard on improving my mixing and mastering, here is a remix a made a couple days ago. Re: Mixing/Mastering Bootlegs?
So you are layering part of the song and your new material. Ok. Well that's what I'm saying, you might have to sidechain the drum track to the leads you wrote. The new drop IS sidechained to the drum loop i sampled from the extended version, however i have to turn either waaaaaaay down, making it i...

[/quote] BUT WHY? If you aren't even playing your new sounds over the Afrojack song, WTF is the point of doing all that??? Also, you didn't say you weren't playing the two parts on top of each other :a: I seriously still understand what you are trying to accomplish by this. For one, turn it down doe...

Re: Mixing/Mastering Bootlegs?
Well so far ive tried mixing it in hot, but it clips, i also tried making an aux bus containing everything i added in in a low level and then running it through a mastering bus that should bring the levels back up but it ends up clipping too, my fear of re-mixing and re-mastering everything is that...

Mixing/Mastering Bootlegs?
Bootleg within this context of the thread refers to an original track by an artist, in this case afrojack's as your friend, that has some of my original production slapped into it. I hated the drop on the song so i produced a new one for it, but my pickle right now is that the track starts to clip w...
