gen_ + arcane :),
You guys are all awesome, thanks for your helpful suggestions!
I used Ableton 9, Battery 4, Massive and Omnisphere (plus Heaviocity's Damage for "industrial" percussion)
The second drop has a (badly mixed) sub, the first one doesn't
There is a tempo change half way through

Re: Massive mixing ?
Thanks for not laughing me off the forum :)
I'm by NO MEANS good at sound design. I've barely scratched the surface, but I'm happy to bumble along the learning curve.
My biggest problem is EQing/mixing. In my 1-minute track up there, the 2nd loud section has 2 different massive leads but I can't ...

Massive mixing ?
Soundcloud
I have graduated from using sample packs of premade noises to actually programming Massive from scratch, but I'm crap at it.
Any advise on layers and mixing etc would be awesome

That is a Wurlitzer 200a, although a Rhodes would sound more or less indistinguishable under all those effects

Re: Your weakest point(s)?
Making electronic music as a solo producer is very lonely compared to making music as a band.
It's a pity that electronic musicians don't work together more to counteract individual weakest points.

Re: Your weakest point(s)?
My weakest point is: I don't know production .
I've been a live keyboard player for 15 years but when it comes down to it, being a composer or whatever is meaningless unless it sounds professional to regular people.
Up until recently I've had the attitude of..
I don't need to care about mixing ...

You know the word meme was invented by Richard Dawkins in 1976, as a "memory" version of gene?

Using drum loops in a production
Yesterday I posted a topic about converting audio drum loops to MIDI and now I have my answers...
However , what happens when you really, really want to use a specific loop ? Surely the hip-hop guys get away with using sampled drum loops all the time?
If there are any experienced producers here ...

Turning drum loops into MIDI?
I have thousands of drum loops archived away (some even paid for), but as my Producer Experience Level gets a +1, I've decided to use individual hits instead of drum loops.
But drum loops can still be used as templates for rhythms, right?
Often drum loops have a particular bit of syncopation or ...

Thanks Mr. Wub, I have a lot to learnwub wrote: Drums are quite weak though, kick is getting lost behind the synths more often than not...could maybe benefit from some layering and/or creative EQing of the other elements to create a bit of sapce for it in the mix.

Re: Anyone have a Virus TI?
I used to have a Virus TI Snow , but like so many hardware synths I sold it because it wasn't as good as Omnisphere !
The famous hyper-saw was the most disappointing aspect of my Virus experience. The effects are very good, but that's not enough
I wouldn't recommend buying a Virus under any ...

Dubbin' wit last years wubs
I present to you a one-minute-long sketch-pad scrawling , to be annihilated by forum-hatred . It's only my third or so attempt at making dubstep but at least I programmed all the synths ( Massive , Lazerbass , Cyclop , WOW ) from scratch!
