I want to bump this now that Ableton has featured one of my very favorite artists in his element for a promo video:



I hadn't realized that he focuses so much on field recordings, but it makes perfect sense now.

It's a synth that I can't explain in any way. I've wanted to know how to make it for a long time, but I've searched a decent way, and since I don't know anything about it, I didn't get far at all in research. Any help would be appreciated.

However it's not quite what I was referring to. Those patches are great emulations of KTN's signature growl but I was talking about the sound after that, it's not really a growl. It kind of 'cuts' and 'twists' if you get what I mean, with loads of really resonant harmonics. Any help? I've tried ...
