Re: The none "how to make this sound" thread to make music
In technical terms, I don't know shit about shit when it comes to music. I just know what sounds good to me, and I try to make it as listenable as possible.

Re: What is your method of producing bass lines?
Get your barebones drum pattern going (kick, snare, simple hi-hat pattern, etc.), then write out a subline until you can listen to it on loop for a couple rounds and stay interested. When you move to making a bass, get a good base sound straight from your synth/sampler, then start processing it (if ...

I really dig the Mac Miller one, but that's probably because I'm an American hip-hop enthusiast stoner.

Re: Dark Robotic Sound
Making a chain of a couple of BP filters, then an LP on top can sometimes give a nice old-school Datsik feel to a bass.

Frequency Shifter
As I'm short on $, and am going to be short on $ for a while, I've been wanting to make a frequency shifter patch for Reason, since I can't buy the Echobode or even the Uhbik RE's. I've spent about 2 hours just researching how HW frequency shifters have been built, but even with schematics, I'm clue...

Memtrix - Mind Control "Rising Lead"
I for the life of me can't figure out how he made the rising lead that you hear during the drop. Hell, it may not even be rising, so my ears may be deceiving me, but either way, it is impossible to not know what synth I'm talking about. Any help will be appreciated. Although, I have a major feeling ...

Re: DnB Pluck
I've come pretty close to it, but instead of it being a "woody" & hollow sounding pluck bass, mine's more grittier and full, which, imo is better, especially since I didn't really expect such satisfying results. Anyways, the question no longer needs to be answered, but if someone wants...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
https://soundcloud.com/sofarmusicofficial/resample-3 I don't remember how I processed this bass, but I do remember that I made it in Synpase Antidote in Reason 7. I mainly posted this just to flaunt off my reese, whether or not it's good or bad. I made it with intentions of getting it pretty close ...

DnB Pluck
I've been curious as to how to translate the process of making the pluck that Seamless makes in his day 1 video of his DnB from Scratch series in Harmor, to Reason (7). I realize he's using a saw wave, but other than that, I can't figure out how to translate it over. Any help will be appreciated. :4...

Not entirely the answers I was expecting, but still on topic nonetheless.
I did say I was going to do it with no serious outcome, just to be clear.

I've never produced while wrecked, but I bought a G of Pineapple Express (too poor to afford more) and plan to tonight with no serious outcome of it. That being said, what's DSF's experience with it?

Re: DATSIK & D-JAHSTA NOISES?!?!
I have a question, that would solve my bass problems for the rest of my life. The basses in Datsik's "Gecko". Literally any of them. I made one just like one of the basses by mistake, but the one I'm really trying to nail is the at :58. That bass drives me nuts, and I might as well be desp...

I wish I could. All I know is it's just distortion. To me it sounds like smooth distortion, but I as far as that, I'm clueless.ehbrums1 wrote:if you tell me what a parabolic shaper is i can probably knock up a combi patch

Parabolic Shaper in Reason
This may sound stupid, but how on Earth does one go about making a parabolic shaper (like the one in Massive) in Reason? I've tried looking up what a parabolic shaper does to a waveform (like what the distortion looks like), but couldn't find anything of use. Any help would be great. I know there's ...

Re: How much does other music influence yours?
I'm generally influenced by certain bands and certain genres.
Angels & Airwaves for example, other dubstep artists, stuff like The Devil Wears Prada, hip-hop, etc.
I try to soak everything in, even though I never finish my songs.

Re: The special bass synth getter
The track in the recap vid is Haggard off of his new EP, and he's a big Crude head, so that will more than likely be one of the wavetables for the bass. He also does everything inside of Massive, as in no external processing other than mixing and all of that noise, of course. So basically, try out C...

Re: Wubs - Requake, megalodon, p0gman
To answer this post on the sound design part (if it hasn't already been answered [too lazy to actually read all of it]), I actually mistakenly made a pretty similar sound. To me it sounds similar, but it could be exact, even though mine just doesn't have an LP filter. Anyways, I made it in Reason, a...
