Right click on the mixer channel you want to save/copy-over.
File > Save mixer track state as...
Then from there either:
1. Left click once and save it somewhere you can find it like the mixer presets. To be loaded into another channel. (Right-click > File > Browse states... > Drag and drop.)

Are you using an ASIO driver for your sound card, or you using your primary drivers? My DAW "clips" all the time when I don't let my audio interface take some of the burden.

You can click and drag the automation over the track that it's actually affecting and just pile multiple automation sections on top of each other.
