Re: What hardware synth would you choose?
I'd take hardware crap over any super turbo softsynth. And it really has nothing to do with what genre you make. Also you can't honestly compare a €2500 synth to the new Volca kit. If money were no issue, I'd probably get a Cirocco setup  I agree. I'm not comparing the Volca to something like ...

I guess it kind of depends on what genres you like making

What hardware synth would you choose?
I've been dreaming a lot lately over hardware synths - it seems to be one of the many edges a lot of professional producers have over the rest and I was wondering what hardware synth people would choose if money was not an option. Mini Moog? Little Phatty? Access Virus Ti2? What do we all think of t...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Im no any expert in this stuff but can still give a few tips: 1. At least for me, MIDI controller with knobs really helps you to automate stuff. Just link cutoffs/lfos/resonance/wt-position/stereo width etc. to controller and mess around with the knobs while playing the track. Record whole automati...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Okay, this was the FM8 patch I used. As you can see I used mainly square waves. Automate the pitch and Mod Wheel at this point to get some movement and then resample. After resampling, add some distortion and compression and apply this eq: http://imageshack.us/a/img547/6029/fm8patch3.png Simply aut...

For sure, thanks for the feedback!BloodySnort wrote:Woah! That intro! Love the glitch-bleeps! And, wooah! That bass! I would work a little more on the structure in the drop. It gets a little messy at some points. Other than that, it's some cool ass shit!
Awesome name by the way

Re: Bloody Snort - Fucking Mug
Damn, that sub. Bass is sick too. I personally like more in your face drums though, but that might be personal preference, if it were me I'd layer the kit with a hat and the snare with a bit of white noise so they both cut through and are in your face. I like the dub style organ stabs in the breaks ...

Re: Help with compression
After using Pro-C on a few channels it's really helping! I think being able to actually see the peaks and where the compressor is coming in and what it's actually taking out helps enormously!

Oh my god, they finally released an iPad version?! <3 I love the plugin. I use it all the time. Yeah, not just some watered down ipad bs. Its the full version with some extras. Yeah I went and watched the vid on YouTube! The X-Y pad seems cool, but I can just use Lemur on my iPad and map the 4 X-Y ...

Re: Help with compression
Don't match gain based on what the meters read. Match gain based on perceived loudness. You should be able to hit the bypass button without the loudness of the track going up or down. Then you can actually assess whether the compression sounds better or if you're just getting tricked by a gain incr...

Re: Help with compression
Technically. You're raising the troughs of your audio by the amount you're making up. There shouldn't really be any increase in actual gain at all, just an increase in perceived loudness.AxeD wrote:Make-up gain is dB increase though.

Re: Nicorisone - A Life in Shambles
Sounds sweet man. I love the single hand clap and that snare. Great ambience and nice sub.
Like thesoundnaut said, the mix is clean but maybe take a bit of the extreme highs on the hats out, 15-20K. Only take them down a touch, a few dB should do it.

Help with compression
I've been producing around a year and compression is still kicking my ass. When I see people demonstrating compression, they reduce the gain and make up the gain by the same amount and the volume doesn't change, just the perception of volume. When I compress, I make-up the gain by the amount reduced...
