Snares

I hardly ever have a question regarding production. But I've been trying for a very long time to recreate these type of snares in my tracks. Now I know the usual drill....find the right samples, layer etc. But I'm almost sure that there is another technique involved that im missing to get them sound...

Re: Why does everything sound so muddy?

Definitely EQ. Work out where your kick and snare peak in the frequency spectrum and start by cutting those from your bass sounds. Also use surgical EQ to cut unwanted rezzy spikes from your basses, that way there will be more natural space for other elements to shine through nicely. By cutting eal ...

Re: Nasty Habits During Production?

I never save my patches.....like EVER!

So even if I want a simple sub bass, or an easy opening mid bass, I always have to create them from scratch! I always tell myself to save them, then get distracted and the moment passes without thought!

Re: Keeping a track "Fresh"?

For sure! Like I said, I've reached a level where I'm really happy. It's taken around 4 years or so, and I feel this is the next step in my journey that I need to overcome to reach the next level! And I agree totally that it's the hardest step to take! But I'll get there eventually!

Keeping a track "Fresh"?

Over the years of producing, I have got to a level where I am happy with my production, sound design, and mixdown skills. However......The one element I still have issues with is keeping a track fresh. I tend to end up with a lot of repetition within my tracks. I try adding new elements, stripping a...

Is it only on samples you use? You may have the warp function enabled which can mess things up if are using a different tempo to the sample?

Re: Are mid range bass sounds in the same octave as the sub?

The mid range should absolutely be an octave higher than the sub otherwise it literally wouldn't be mid range, it would just be two subs fighting with each other. For example in one of my songs my sub hits around 32-41hz and my mid range hits at 130hz and above whereas my kick is hitting hardest at...
