Check if the key is stuck, see if there are any other keyboards attached or any weird things stuck somewhere. If the key iself is stuck, remove it and clean it.

It does seem that everyone over-complicates sound design nowadays, most synthesis concepts are relatively simple. I actually talked to my buddy KRAM about how he makes his snares in his tracks. He didn't mention filters or metallic reverb/delay effects, but he did talk about layering his snares. I can talk to him about it though.

I personally find that messing with the reverb settings in Massive are a good substitute for fucking with the delay. Here are the settings I made for a patch that give it a metallic-y feel:
