Ableton not producing sound for midi?

It worked before i updated (accidentally) updated to Windows 8.1. The drivers are all installed, Ableton responds when i hit the keys (i.e the top right square flashes when i press it) but there's just no sound.When i set it up with my keyboard, no sound comes out either. You can't really customize them or upgrade them yourself (which is also IMO if you want a computer that is just always going to work and you don't have to know shit about computers (for example, you not being able to install a hard drive, that is probably the easiest thing to do in upgrading a PC.....

Been using ableton's transposition. Makes it sound way too muddy. Is there a better way? Looking for something like what's used in this (25 secs onwards)

played right at the start, underneath the drums.



can't tell whether or not it's some kind of transposed down audio of a bass sound or a bass with a high pass etc.

Sounds like a normal growl just an octave lower than normal. Usually this sounds abit distorted and weird but he's either processed or patched it in such a way to avoid that
