Re: "Clicky" Kick Drums (Layered over Sub Bass)

Alright guys, so now that I better understand the clicky sounding kick / bass combo more.' What about layering a thumpy kick, that still has some low end in tact, with the sub bass... Here's a sample of what I have going on right now.. It's still not where I want it to be, the bass isn't flowing lik...

Do you think that this technique should be parallel processed with a high pass?
Yeah, same question. So that the sub frequencies are left unharmed?

Distorted "Festival Trap" Bass

Hey guys! With the whole Festival season right around the corner, I've been trying to make a few "festival trap" songs. One of the biggest and pretty much only problem I am having right now is getting a good distorted sub bass. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about: 1: https://soundcloud....

"Clicky" Kick Drums (Layered over Sub Bass)

Hey guys! I really want to get my kicks sounding like a lot artists do with their kick drums in a lot of Big Room, Trap, Festival Trap tracks, etc. Here are a few examples. 1: https://soundcloud.com/officialsnails/dirty-raxxx 2: https://soundcloud.com/boomboxcartel/getlowremix Their kicks seem to la...

Layering Kick Over Sub Bass

So I've been having a lot of trouble lately trying to get my kicks to sit just right with an '808' type bass layered underneath. I make my bass in Massive, Sine wave, short decay, long release, just like an 808. I put an EQ on and cut below 30hz and above 80hz. I've been also sidechaining the kicks ...

Re: Synthesizing This Piano

I'm currently working on a bootleg of GRiZ's Track "Too Young For Tragedy" and I'm running across some phasing issues between my bass and the piano from the intro of the song. I would much rather recreate the part, but I'm not quite sure where to start. I want to synthesize the piano he used here i...

How do I make this distorted bass?

How do I make a distorted '808' type bass like in this song?

https://soundcloud.com/rudebrat/rudebra ... -halloween

It's as if there is a layer over the sub bass that is the distorted warm fuzzy sound, any ideas how to get something close to this?

Re: Kick / Bass Layering

So I've been keeping my low pass on my '808' around 80hz, and layering with various kick drums that hit hard around 80-100hz, but sort of leaving the bottom end of the kicks in tact, and making room for them by pushing the attack of the bass back. Seems to be working well!

Re: Kick / Bass Layering

LP 808/909 kick at 80-100hz + some sort of "clicky" kick HP at 80+hz. If you can't figure it out, you just have to keep working on it. Sounds simple in theory, but actually takes some time f messing around with the right combo of kicks to make it work. I do low pass my '808' type sub at 80hz, so I ...

Kick / Bass Layering

I want my kicks and bass to sound like this: http://www.soundcloud.com/enzopicardi/hardwell-makj-countdown-Enzo - a punchy kick, with the sub bass coming out of it smoothly, giving it that 'hard hitting 808' type bass. In that track, is that just a normal kick with the sub layered right under it? Ho...

Re: Snare Question

Compression ruins the dynamic's right? I have been compressing my snares just like that sample lately, so I should stop? Also have been compressing my claps as well. Compression doesn't ruin dynamics, it just alters them. The quality and usefulness of the compression are dependant on the producer a...

Re: Snare Question

no worries dude. like i said from what i can hear, they've just boosted around 300hz a bit to make it sound more notey. its a good sample tho, not really much you need to do with it. dont make it mono, half the weight of it comes from the wideness. best tip i can give for drums like that: dont comp...

Re: Snare Question

Imo that snare is annoying as fuck, being right in my ears like that. It's pretty obvious it's a generic hip hop/trap snare with excessive amounts of stereo separation, you can tell by the right side being more present than the left. If you're on FL then Fruity stereo shaper preset 'stereoise 3' sh...
