Re: The Monitor Thread™
DECISION TIME:
Presonus ERIS 5's
OR
Equator D5's
...
getting one or the other, got some 8" krk's, wanting some smaller tighter sounding monitors for cross referencing on a smaller system etc etc..
get at me with your ideas! xo

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@lunchpaddle: super chill stuff ;) fossil: like the vocals + pad, but in my oppinion the kick is a lil bit too dull reptile: love the vibes and atmosphere + pads + vocal - the only thing that I don´t like is the mixdown bass/drums - i would prefer louder/more solid drum and a heavy sidechain - but ...

Re: The Monitor Thread™
I don't know whether you're talking about the Presonous monitors or the snare heads but either way, it is Kevlar. http://www.presonus.com/products/Eris/techspecs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevlar ;-) it was in response to your comment regarding the material used for the cones on the KRK rokits..

Re: Need a new soundcard - recommendations?
Thanks for this everyone - think I'm gonna go with the KA6 if the Phantom Power thing's been worked out. Ended up going for the Akai EIE Pro... similar price to the KA6 and pretty unanimously good reviews, plus it's got a little USB hub on it which might come in handy and some fancy needle gauges. ...

Re: ITT - the best budget monitors? (£250 for a pair)
Kevlar just makes shit way more badass for some reason. Used to play high tension marching snare with kevlar heads in a drumline. Ooooh dat crack. Maybe that explains my affinity for high tuned snares. Nothing worse than a flabby rock snare that's like "doooooosh" its not kevlar, its glas...

@dougriley: REALLY like your tune mang!! sounding fresh! those reverse snares and growls make it! really hard pressed to find any issues with it.. keep it up! good little break section too! what did you make your bass mids on? around 1:45, that little plucky sound you have going is really nice too! ...

Re: Kick / Bass Layering
Sidechain compression. this will only work if the kick has a short tail on it. if its a boomy 808 kick then the tail will most likely cut out too much of the sub note.. if you want it to hit hard, and youve got a large bassy kick on there, id recommend another way of doing it.. changing the attack ...
