Re: Moth/Code:Pandorum Bass in Massive?

So I'm getting pretty close to it, actually. Digigrain is a good oscillator if you find the sweetspot on the positon. Use a scream filter and a sine shaper for distortion, and a Magyr oscillator for some nice midrange tone to give each shot more impact and pronunciation. Ableton's Corpus gives some ...

Any idea what kind of distortion?

Re: Moth/Code:Pandorum Bass in Massive?

I'm looking to kind of create a deathstep styled heavy bass, the distorted kind that Moth and Code:Pandorum use. Anybody know which kinds of effects and oscillators in massive would get me on the right track? Like 99% of the time, you can probably get these sounds out of basic waveforms like saws &...

Riddim/Wonk/Trench?

Whipped up some robotic wonk after experimenting with more effects in massive and the Ableton Simple Delay.

Re: Fattening a drum loop?

Compression is certainly key, if you want to fatten the snare the best thing to do is to boost the frequencies around 90-200 hz, find the sweet spot, then boost up in the mid-hi range to add some click. Layer the snares so you have one with a low end punch and another with some snap to it, makes a n...

Okay, so I worked a lot more on processing and did more frequency boosting to keep it sounding filled out.

Re: Complextro Attempt

It needs some groove. It feels too robotronic like it doesnt make me wanna dance or move or bob my head (only if thats what you were goin for of course). I like some of the sound design. The melodic lead you have in the drop doesnt fit imo tho. Your buildup gets louder than your drop too i would th...

Music Theory: Coordinating with Vocals and Resolving

So I'm doing this bootleg remix of "Connect" by ClariS, since it's already in 175 BPM I feel it'd be prime for a drum & bass styled remix, but here's the thing; writing melodies for this shit is breaking me. I'm getting pretty good at writing stuff in the Gb Major Mixolydian, but here's the thing; m...

Guttural kinda Riddim bass, needs something more to it

So I've been screwing with Massive's double notch and bandpass filters. Something about this throaty bass I've been using sounds kinda...I dunno, like it's missing something. Do I need to split it and boost more of the frequencies?

Getter/JPhelpz/Etc Vocal Samples?

So, if you've listened to tracks by some of the heavier dubstep producers like Getter and JPhelpz, etc, there are these kinda vocal samples in between downbeats, usually dudes shouting "HEY!" or "WHAT." So what I wanna know is, since I've heard the same samples in multiple songs (Labco's Dread Talk ...

What the hell's Trench?

So I was reading Getter's interview on an upcoming record, and I was wondering, what exactly constitutes trench? Seems weird to me. But whatever it is, going by what I've heard so far I'm down for it.

A minor scale sounds like it could work, and in a mixolydian mode I feel the pieces'll fit in.

Music Theory: A Scale that Fits?

So, I'm working on a sort of progressive/electro house song. What I need to know is, (since I'm still working on my music theory knowledge, taking a course for it) would anybody know of a house-ish kinda scale that feels kinda solemn, but at the same time can be uplifting? I'm going for an almost "g...

Claps in "All I Ask of You"

So, listening to house tracks like "All I Ask of You (with Penny)" by Skrillex, the claps/drums behave rather...differently. As in, it sounds like there's a sort of prelude to just before each clap downbeat, like a flam almost, hard to explain, but does anybody know how to produce this desired sound...
