Re: Quickly Make Your Own Presets Or Maticulously Automate E
Just a stab in the dark, OP, but try making your automations by hand while the whole mix is playing. Maybe you are geting too into one track, and details are getting lost, sounds masked, etc and you are ending up spending too much time per track, wasting time, and more importantly energy, where it c...

Re: Is one of the secrets of the best sound design to not ov
I feel like you got it, somewhere in you. I see the pieces I think you're looking for in your post. Figure out your method, and run with it. I keep it simple, and accept my mistakes. When I am trying to come up with a riff, or drum rhythm, and find one, I find more often than not when I hit the reco...

well, if you want to get really in depth with synthesis and what's at play when you're turning the knobs, filters and creating sounds in a synth... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/allsynthsecrets.htm Otherwise, the only advice I have to offer is to experiment, and learn about phase cancellation, and...

Re: (Advice) Getting to the next level in music production
I can relate to your struggle, as I live in Utah currently, where people are even less perceptive to any music outside top 40, trending hip hop or alternative/indie/hipster rock type shit... I don't try to play anything out because I'm not trying to make it big or anything right now, but even just t...

BRING ON THE HANGOVER!!!
Oh, and happy new year.
So...does this mean the holidays are finally over, and the stnuc responsible for keeping the stores packed non stop can go home so I can get beer in peace, without lines at the store?

Re: Mute - Mutated (Experimental Bass)
Nice n deep. I like it. You might want to try letting some high frequencies bleed through every now and then, like use it as a way to give some tension and release.
Just food for thought/later tunes. Good work!

Quality work here man. Really feeling the subtle stop-and-go vibe in the drums, and those vocals fill in the gaps real nice.

Re: How many times could you layer something and what with?
Been getting into layering synths with reverb, like recording a track twice, once without reverb, and again with it, throwing the tracks in audacity, inverting the reverberated track followed by a slight delay 100% wet to nudge the waveform, to align the phases to taste, then turning that inverted/d...

Re: Kotei - Ruminate
I like the contrast in foreground/background here. I think the strings could benefit with a bit of reverb, but I can see why you would choose to not do so. Musically, I felt something was missing. The drums were nice and busy, the bass comes in good, and the strings weren't too redundant, but someth...

Good remix dude.
Drums have nice impact, and that intro is killer imo. I really like what you did there.

Re: jaydot-Thinking of You (future garage)
Take this with a good grain of salt, because I'm a bit hungover and the heating unit is loud as shit. I like the ideas you've got going here. Good vibe, good rhythm, and good sounds. However, I think the hi hats/shakers in the beginning (first minute or so) are too loud, and the rain is a touch too ...

Re: Thinking out loud...
Been thinking of making a pdf of a lot of the content of this thread because the search keeps bringing me back here, which causes firefox to slow the fuck down for like five minutes depending on the page. I've already copy/pasted bits of it anyways.
I'll actually do it though, if anyone is interested.

Re: Black Metal
Wolves in the Throne Room, Coldworld, Burzum, Xasthur and Darkthrone is usually what I rinse autumn thru winter. I find I remember/discover a lot of bands every time I get into the mood to dive back into black metal. Not as depressive, and some might argue it's not "tru blackmetal" because...
