Re: Blue States - Your Girl (NOTOY Bootleg Remix) (chill/fil

Thanks for the input! I actually used the same kick leading up to both drops through the song but on my first mix it was too intense, even with -10% volume on the rest of the song. The kick on the melody is the same one, just drops out much sooner. I'll try a good medium between the two :) I'll shif...

Blue States - Your Girl (NOTOY Bootleg Remix) (chill/filth)

I've wanted to do something with "Your Girl" by Blue States for a decade and finally got around to it over the last two weeks. I put a lot in to this and am looking for any and all opinions. Odd BPM (108) for me to work with as I didn't want to speed up or slow down the vocals, but I think...

Re: Morel - Post Dubstep / Glitch Hop

Good sound quality but I have no idea whats going on with the melody and arrangement. Every time I think I'm following it, it changes a measure before or after a typical 4-4-4 (or 8) format. Maybe I don't get it...

Re: High Bodies - CLASH (140 TRVP/Massive Bass)

Its okay but theres room for improvement. First thing that jumps out at me is all your highend synthesis have too long of a release. They try to have a sharp "pop" to them but the release and small room reverb (guessing) takes away from it. Especially on the change up after 1:49. The drum ...

Re: Talksik - Edixis (Original Mix) [First original song]

Wow, that was heavy the whole way through! Kicks were maybe a little too brassy for my taste, I think it'd sound a tad better lowered like 5% with a subdued sub bass on it thats keyed to the melody, but that is such a minor change to really not even be worth it. Good flow throughout and personally, ...

Re: GETTING THE VIBES BACK - [Forum Suggestion]

I'm new to the site and read the first half dozen posts in this topic. Sorry if the conversation has strayed from the original point since then (which I'm sure it has in the year since it started) but I use this site from my phone and the mobile version is kinda slow for me, lol. I think the general...

Re: NEW Experimental/Droney Dubtrack

@notoy: why should I joke about that? :_/ glad you like it though.. The thing is, I´m kind of "raised" by dubstep but I wasn´t sure if this stylistic umbrella would make sense... Hope you dont think I was knocking it, I certainly wasn't. Just being jovial. I guess I went in to it thinking...

You weren't joking when you said you didn't focus on rhythm in this one! Haha. Great ambiance though, lush spookiness. I like it.

Re: Sessile - keen (first Vocal work)

I like it, had me chillin out. I think the vocals actually take away from the rest of the song though. I'd like to hear it without them. Only other minor change I'd make is turning down the extra reverse snares in the second half of the song. Back-to-back they get a bit much. I like it though, nice ...

Re: LXTC - Betrayal (Trapstep)

The synth pad that comes in at 0:41 sounds out of tune with your lead after the second note it plays and the other instruments that come in with the drums follow suit. Try using some sort of modulation on instruments as it plays through to give them more character, be it frequency, wave position, an...

Re: LXTC - Latitude (Chill/Filth)

I agree with wehlfest, though it sounds like there are many presets used. Also, every instrument and the drums have what sound like the same eq levels which give it a very bland sound, like everything is coming from one channel and battling for attention. Arrangement is a good start but more variety...

Re: Tallen - Yup! (Dubstep/Wonky?/140BPM)

I dig it! Forgive me if I don't use the correct technical terms but I think a little more stereo on the yous would give it more appeal (duplicated, one slightly left, other slightly right, detune one a few notches). I like the arrangement though and would have gotten into it repeated with the yous c...

NOTOY - Grow It Out (filth/heavy)

I would love to get some critical feedback on a project I finished last week. I'm terrible at perfectly identifying genre so I hope filth/heavy doesn't mislead anyone.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here

Hi DSF, I've browsed the forums on and off for years and only recently joined. Super brief musical history: Started making DnB & EDM in 1999, released monthly with pHluid (sub-group of the ACiD.org demo crew) from 2000-2001, Mainly hip-hop from 2002-2009 with production on dozens of albums from ...
