Re: Snare design forum

Hai! I love ghost town! (Not so much that song but ghost in the machine is mah jam) Now that that has been said haha it is definitely a vengeance sample! I've heard them use loads of vengeance stuff! However this sounds like the skrillex snare, which I have made a similar sound to before My process...

Re: Snare design forum

Re: Snare design forum

the tail probably is just some random snare sound with a nice tail on top just put any snare with a tail on top and cut out the body so its just the tail and the 909 body should the tail be a 909? Plus like I said the body is short. When I tried recreating it, the snare body I made was too big. Lis...

Snares n Basses

Snare:I am getting help for this but I wanna see if there are any other methods. So this snare is very hard hitting and dubsteppy and I want to know how to get that sound. The transient, the body, and the tail. Any ideas on how it could be made from scratch and not from vengeance samples? Plus how d...

Re: Skrillex, Zomboy, Filthzilla etc. Snares

Yea honestly it's just about layering your snares and picking the frequencys to blend together, I like to use some vengeance stuff as well as some stuff from BHK, he's got some nice snares in some of his packs as well, I usually almost always layer in a 909 and it seems to give me that punch. Reall...

Re: Skrillex, Zomboy, Filthzilla etc. Snares

I've been noticing this a lot recently - first it started with skrillex, but now it seems the producers such as zomboy, break the noize and filthzilla all are getting this punchy, "pitched" snare sound. it's really bugging me. the closest ive been able to come is on this track : http://so...

Re: Fucking fat snare - how?

Do a short volume automation on the other elements of the track when the snare hits, and make sure your snare has a nice and strong transient, short and punchy body etc.. :) Example of this in my sig Blink helped me so much with snares ever since I forgot how to :D I wanna give credit to him for he...

Re: Fucking fat snare - how?

Hey man, I know a way to give you a fat snare like the one in this track: https://soundcloud.com/skrylarek/bleed Skip to about 2 minutes into the song for the snare. To make it from scratch, use 909s as a start (Compress all these samples) Body -Eq one at 200hz so you hear that thud/boof sound. Take...

Re: Why does Deadmau5 etc sound so much more professional?

Who did deadmaws ask about how to make a deadmaws snare? :Q: seriously though this is all the advice you need, however 'unhelpful' you may consider it to be. electornic music existed before the Internet strange as it may be to imagine so how did those artists find out how to make certain sounds if ...

Re: Why does Deadmau5 etc sound so much more professional?

Like I said in that other thread, I haven't heard a deadmaws song since the 90's so would be no help. Other people did seem to know the snare in question and gave you some good pointers, as well as sample sources. Telling me to figure it out without any advice is not help :a: It may not be the help...

Re: Why does Deadmau5 etc sound so much more professional?

Jeez I just wanted a little help and the help on nowaysj thread wasn't any help. You're acting like I have no experience at this. I just wanted some EQ, distortion, compression techniques and sample suggestions to help me get that sound (for the snare in a moment to myself). Jeez I thought I would b...

How does deadmau5 make most of his snares in his new album? Like the one from "A moment to myself"?

Re: Alright Newbies, Ask A Question

Okay. I get it now. I got good samples and I looked back on the advice you guys gave me :) it helped a lot and now I think I'm done asking questions. Sorry for annoying you guys though with my questions though. But I'm taking your advice and using it for that snare ;) cheers to all you guys.

Re: Alright Newbies, Ask A Question

Good samples don't need EQing. You shouldn't really be boosting, its better to have the source sample with the frequency spectrum what you need. In terms of cutting - you should be cutting to make room for the sound within the mix. Again, if you have to cut bad frequency spikes, it'll be better to ...
