Re: Live Setup Thread
Wish I had that amount of gear to work with haha. What would you suggest someone do for the live show if they only have a few analog synths, a computer (ableton), and a push?

Re: Why Musical Talent Isn't Enough to Achieve Success
This 10k hours to become a master of X is the most annoying urban myth/internet myth of late. There are way more factors than raw hours. I've got a couple friends who've fiddled/jammed on their guitar since their early teens and we are all in our 30's now. They've easily got 10K hours in and though...

Re: So, did you hear, Camel Audio has gone tits up?
Some guess for buy outs are Ableton, Apple and Logic. If somebody bought them out, my first guess would be NI. Hasn't it been pretty much NI Absynth vs CamelAudio Alchemy for some time already? I've seen lots of stuff like "should I buy Absynth?" with answers usually being "get Alche...

Re: Why Musical Talent Isn't Enough to Achieve Success
Do you really want money or success? Enough to spend your time on getting it? Then you'll get it. no necessarily spending time does not guarantee anything Actually it does. It takes someone 10,000 hours to become a master at their craft. 10,000 hours of practice and playing. After that, you have a ...

Re: Why Musical Talent Isn't Enough to Achieve Success
I'd like to add to this: what is good music?. subjective based on the listener How long has Burial been making music for example? hes said that when he started producing one of his favourite tunes* was let go by teebee . this was released in 2000 so at least 6 years before he released his first alb...

Re: Live Setup Thread
Haha idk if pretentious is the right word because I think some of these guys got their start just playing their music off an iPod and screaming into a mic. But at the same time it's kind of a big night with some bigger acts so I'd like to impress them (as stupid as that sounds). Honestly they probab...

Re: Live Setup Thread
Just playing with some acts that don't use a laptop on stage for their performances. Noise techno artists. So I'm gonna feel out of place if I bring my desktop on stage and hit go. My best bet seems to be messing around with the fx on ableton with my push. I'll add the korg just for something extra ...

Re: Live Setup Thread
Haha I hate festivals and I'm not a huge fan of this EDM craze, but it definitely is an American thing to make your stage show look crazier than it actually is. That being said, I'm playing some shows coming up that really require me to have some kind of show. I may make complex music at home (and t...

Re: Live Setup Thread
I'm playing my own tunes. Yeah idk, maybe it's because I alweays played in bands before producing my own tracks - I just always feel like I have to put on a show for people

Re: Live Setup Thread
As long as everyone admits to their level of talent/competency (what they are actually doing) and the tunes are banging...I don't give a shit. If the DJ is just pushing play...I figure my entry fee covers the sound system, the facilities, the lights etc. I'm not into this whole DJ as rock star thin...

My field recording folder is getting out of hand tbh. I sample way too much. There needs to be a way to record your whole day

Re: Live Setup Thread
Sorry, not talking shit on DJ's or anything - I enjoy a good DJ, but I guess I'm sort of looking at it through a different lense. I couldn't get into techno music until I discovered Throbbing Gristle and the like. Their live experimentation really made me appreciate it more

Re: Live Setup Thread
And personally, I just think it looks better when people are playing gear live.
