Re: 'Skunk-like cannabis' increases risk of psychosis
Best moment of my life was dropping acid with MDMA and right as it peaked I found myself in the middle of the pit and a death metal concert. And that experience left me completely fine mentally, I don't see how marijuana could cause psychosis, I'm pretty sure it needs to be present first for the psy...

Re: Top 3 must have plug ins you'd recommend to a new starte
Massive FM8 Sausage Fattener  recommend those to a new starter and you doom them to a life of producing substandard generic brostep I'm not dooming anyone to anything, I'm simply suggesting the most used and versatile tools. I've used all those tools on ambient projects, or mixing a punk ...

Re: Need something to make it bigger?
The absence of frequency can create anticipation and create a larger drop, I place a low pass filter on the master bus and sweep it up slightly during the build to remove the low frequencies, then drop it back down upon the impact into the drop. The fact that the sub is suddenly re introduced helps ...

Re: How to mix so many different sounds within same beat/bar
I keep my drops very sparse, generally only drums, bass and some fx, maybe a few vocal clips sprinkled in well avoiding as much overlap without things sounding choppy. Other then that the big tip I can give you is side chaining to move sounds out of the way, allowing others to come through. This can...

Re: Novation Launchpad or Akai APC Mini?
Wait for a bit, the launchpad pro is coming out in the spring, looks like a leaner and meaner Push for 400 bucks, RGB velocity sensitive, controls basically everything you would want to control when creating and then some.

Re: Dubstep in the key of?
I find a good rule of thumb is to find a kick that works well, then all the roots of all the licks or riffs or phrases or whatever to that, along with anything else that has a tonal center, I have found that most of the kicks I find have that punch and sub wave cycle I like and works for my songs is...

Re: Top 3 must have plug ins you'd recommend to a new starte
Go to splice.com and click on the plugins tab, you it will show you what the most used plugins are by the users of the site, most if not all are producers so it's a great list to start with once you know what plugins you need to supplement your stock plugins. If I was to make a list though. Massive,...

Re: slow amen
You could stretch the entire loop to half time then slice out all the samples and return them to their original length or somewhere near and rise it up to the required tempo then verb it up with a bit of delay to add a bit to the hits to give them some more tail so they don't sound so choked.
